Bonisimo! Blackberries, licorice, tobacco, and spice. Smoothest Cannonau we have ever had. — 4 years ago

A very nice lighter-styled Nebbiolo dominant blend from the Novarese. Nose has crisp, macerated cherry and loads of freshly-cracked stone, along with a nice woodsy barrel cellar note. Zesty and direct in the mouth, it’s still got a little youthful angularity and tannin to resolve, and features crisp acids as well. Good with food now, better in 2. — 5 years ago
Rustic and zesty. It’s got crunchy wild cherry fruit and loads of wet Novarese gravel, with a little barnyard funk. Lively and crisp in the mouth, with a bit of chalky tannin to give it a little physicality. It was fantastic to wash down pasta bolognese.
UPDATE: On night two, this wine has put on a bit of weight. Upping rating from 8.9 to 9.0. — 7 years ago
Very soft and smooth for a Cannonau. Black cherries, plums, earthy, slight tobacco. Very smooth, lingering finish. — 7 years ago

Superb wine drinking following making authentic pesto the old way. — 3 years ago
Falanghina is as flexible as it gets, pears, apricots, jasmine. Acidity to carry the bubbles. Light and structured. — 3 years ago
Really liked it. Bought take out from Sociale. — 6 years ago
This is another time-traveler wine. Its ripe, slightly pruny, spicy aromas remind me of various Novarese (now called “Alto Piemonte”) or Veronese Ripassos from the 70s and early 80s. Lots of clingy dark fruit, leather, and other savory notes. Satisfying and completely working class in the best way. — 7 years ago
Beautiful concentrated Amarone, raisins, figs and dates in on palate, long aftertaste. Delicious! — 7 years ago
Ghemme is my sentimental favorite of the Novarese DOCs. I had a really good one when I was in my last year of college and starting my wine journey. It generally is one of the heavier and, sometimes, earthier of the group. This one is very good. Still youthful, it takes time to open up, but slowly reveals dark cherry, mahogany furniture, crushed minerally gravel, and roasted meat scents. Medium full, it’s got concentrated and tight dark cherry fruit, very fine-grained but abundantly chalky tannins, and very nice acidity. No rush to drink this. Enjoy over the next 4-5 years, maybe longer. — 3 years ago

Excellent Vermentino. Dry, crisp with subtle flower notes. Doesn't get any better than this for the price. — 6 years ago
Really good but so different from the Novarese (I’m not gonna say the new-fangled “Alto Piemonte”) reds I cut my teeth on. Extremely light color, beautiful scents of macerated, barely ripe cherry, gravel, and old mahogany furniture. Fantastic acids make this a great wine to accompany rustic, rich dishes (like the red wine and sausage risotto I cooked tonight). Loads of minerality on the finish. — 6 years ago
Delicious, well balanced, Tuscan bland. Right amount of fruit, earthiness and funk. Really liked this wine! The restaurant, “Enoteca Sociale”. — 7 years ago

These are notes from my memory of last night. This was outstanding. Loads of dried cherry fruit and bright cracked stony/gravelly minerality. A very linear mouthfeel, with length, intensity, and focus favored over broadness. A great example drunk with my Novarese braised roast. — 2 years ago
