This bottle is a special one because it is the last bottle I have from when I worked at this winery back in 2012. On the nose, there’s dark fruit up front, blackberry, blueberry, currants, layered with leather, tobacco, a little campfire smoke, and a hint of forest floor. On the palate, there’s still a thread of acidity, but the fruit has mostly stepped back. What lingers is a touch of dried cherry and more of those earthy, evolved notes: turned soil and well-integrated oak. — 23 days ago

Saw @Ted drinking this so I thought I'd join him. I'm having the 2023, though. Not a bad wine from the Cakebread people. Very sour nose of overripe berries and musk melon. Super tannic, cedar, blackberries, bay leaves, minerals, and apple skins lingering on the long finish. Having one glass now, and will revisit tomorrow. It really tastes like a tight Bordeaux wine.

Blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 4% Petite Verdot & 4% Cabernet Franc, aged for 17 months in 56% new French oak, deep Ruby with aromas of dark berry fruits, oak and sweet spice. On the palate flavors of blackberry, cherry and currants with tobacco and herb spice. Tannins are a bit chewy, long finish ending with fruit, oak, spice and herb mineral character. Golden in color.

Strong nose of citrus, yellow apples, light pineapples, spices, light cedar, earth, herbs and white pepper.

Full-bodied and elegant with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with limes, light grapefruits, spices, light oak, earth and herbs.

Long finish with limes and almonds.

This delicious 10 years old Chardonnay from Napa Valley is still drinking beautifully. Very complex, elegant and nicely balanced.

Still showing enough fruits to balance the earth notes. Nicely aged, and will not get better from this point on.

Good right out of the bottle, and better after 20 minutes of airtime.

It's always nice to try these kind of aged wines. Good by itself as a sipping and with food.

100% Chardonnay grapes were aged in (34% new) French Oak barrels for 8 months.

14.2% alcohol by volume.

On the palate ripe black cherry and blackberry flavors, with some dried fruit notes, tea, toasty vanilla oak, cinnamon spice and cola tones. Got this at Cakebread in Napa in February 2020 for about $45. (Their tour is amazing and they're so nice there.) This red blend is just so balanced and enjoyable. Some earthy, some berry flavor. Great with grilled steak and chocolate. — 5 years ago
