Napa Valley Sangiovese? Beautiful dark garnet in color. Hints of blueberries, baking spices and dried flowers on the nose. Given where these grapes come from it is not surprising that there are great flavors of dark plums, blueberries, licorice and mint on the palate. Tannins are very refined and the acidity is very mouthwatering. A hidden gem in Calistoga! — 5 years ago
A really nice wine from the Côtes du Brian area. Great fruit and acid. Earthy. Delicious with a nice thick lamb chop. Syrah, Cab, Cinsault, Carignan, Terret, Counoise, Mourvèdre, Grenache, & the kitchen sink. I’d like to try it when it’s got a couple more years in bottle. At Watershed @ The Owl — 6 years ago
Stunning and better than most winery’s top bottlings, the 2017 ‘Willamette Valley’ Pinot Noir is another sensational wine made by one of the most underrated winemakers in North America, Brian Marcy. The nose is seductive and highly perfumed with rose petals, guava puree, cigar ash and suggestions of peat moss that all build in the glass. The wine shows off a downright sexy texture, showing a great combination of weight and minerality. Guava puree, red raspberry cordial, blood orange zest and white truffle flavors all dance on the palate. A seriously good wine, this will continue to cellar well over the next fifteen years. Dark ruby color. A wine I haven’t had. Apparently a combo of Grenache and Cabernet. Strong strawberry nose. A nice palate of dark cherry strawberry tobacco. Complex long finish. — 2 years ago
