Just love this wine! Nice blend of grapes from the Bierzo Valley, biodynamic. Deep Ruby with loads of Berry fruits aromas adding some sweet floral spice and flinty notes. On the palate flavors of cherry, raspberry, and strawberry with a juicy mineral edge. Well balanced and integrated with fine chalky tannins, lively acidity and a long finish ending with fruit and spicy notes. Tremendous value for such a complex wine. — 14 days ago

Red blend from Portugal, 70% Castelão, 30% Touriga Nacional. Varietals I have never heard of! Medium bodied, mild tannins. Presents tastes of blueberries, black current, spice, and mild raisin. Also, picking up tastes of a whole cluster wine. Enjoying the complexity in this bottle!

Ramisco from Colares is one of my bucket list experiences so anytime I get to share (& it must be shared!)a bottle it’s a special experience indeed. Truffle, aged bark, blackberry must on nose; on palate those notes plus sour cherry concentrate, cassis, & forest leaves all in a light medium body. Did not decant & wondered if mildly corked (vs needing air). I experience these wines as remarkably evocative, & find my self transported to, for example, my English grandfather’s library in London,as a child, which I suppose is another way of saying it’s a”contemplative” wine. I also find the 500ml format an excellent way to sample aged, noble wine like this- the Goldilocks of proportion. I humbly bow to my dear friend for breaking this out. — 8 days ago

Lighter in color than the much older 1969, but much more expressive aromatically, dusty, sandy red-fruited aromas, flavors tend toward red-fruit as well, more of an elegant style of Ramisco, long finish, this seems at peak, or close to it (but I have more bottles, so will check in again within a year). This is the third (and last) bottle of 1969 we’ve tried in the past 5 years, and the first starting to show some clear decline, with a green asparagus note that shows on the palate and into the medium-long finish, but still, 55-year-old Ramisco?!?! Wow! — 3 months ago
