Interesting and food friendly tasty Spanish white of 70% Viura 20% Granacha Blanca 10% Tempranillo Blanco. Minerals and white flowers right on nose and balanced acidity and lively texture on palate carrying through to finish. 12ABV. 14mo in 80/20 French American oak but no sense of any heavy handed use. — 4 years ago

Ca’ Lojera, pronounced “callow yerra”, means “house of the wolf”, making this a Stark wine for GoT fans. The estate was originally the bishop’s Summer home, so here, the “wolves” refer to smugglers who used the estate as a base during the rest of the year.
Ca’ Lojera is primarily a producer of Lugana whites, but they grow a bit of Cabernet and Merlot for their rosato, and make stainless steel varietal wines of each. The Merlot is surprisingly good, with smooth, clean cherry and blueberry fruits, and just a touch of pepper spice bite to the finish. — a year ago

Paired with a beautiful roast Spanish prawn, with chorizo and peppers, At first on the shelf there was only 2015s, but then I noticed the display bottle was 2012, so YOINK! Deep rose color with slight orange hues to the edges but no bricking even at 13 years old. Big spicy nose with hints of sharpie marker, black olives, plum and, as @Tiva Feltman described it, “old movie theater”. The spice could even be interpreted as hints of pineapple even! Medium to full bodied, with a big palate where the spice and energy continues, zinging the palate, with a flavor that lingers for LONG after the first sip. So much freaking energy, with flavors that remind me of artificial rasberry, black olives, tar, cigar smoke and some serious vegetal notes, almost like spicy kimchi and rich granite or pencil led. It just keeps going and it’s def a great value that could age forever. — 16 days ago
