Vigneto Monte Lodoletta Valpolicella Superiore Corvina Blend 2010

Very dense and black in colour. These wines always remind me of Fruit and Nut milk chocolate. The colour makes you think full bodied but it’s actually light to medium bodied. A luscious mouth filling palate with the savoury milk chocolate together with notes of raisin and date. Supple yet persistent tannins. Reminiscent of a Priorat Garnacha in some respects. — 2 months ago

A beautiful balance of clove, tobacco, leather, vanilla, delicate peat, and ripe, juicy red, black, and blue fruits. So delicious. — 11 days ago

Tommaso Bussola

Ca' del Laito Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore Corvina Blend 2017

Another wine I bought from Garagiste but then was shocked when it came in that it was 15.5%. So I waited to have it with a very rich Italian braised chuck roast, and hoped that the body and alcohol would cut through the richness of the food. Bingo! It was an inspired pairing. The nose is complex, with macerated plum, leather, humus, baking spice, violets. In the mouth the alcohol is prominent, but the flavors are relatively intense and not jammy. This really needs a rich braised meat dish to not seem jarringly out of balance. I’ll give it a 9.1, but with that caveat. — 2 months ago
