Finger Lakes Semi-Sweet Riesling 2017

Tremendous purity of fruit in this one. Beautiful peach and crisp ripe apple, along with a whisper of clean slatey minerality. Ripe in the mouth, with a note of apricot, and somewhere between Spatlese and Auslese in sweetness, though the alcohol, while not noticeable at at, is higher at 12.2%. Good acids and a hint of bitterness in the finish. — 10 days ago

@Severn Goodwin - Yes, we did. Not the deepest or most complex wines, but all were balanced and very pure tasting.

Bannockburn Pinot Noir 2010

Well, it took me an extra day to fully enjoy it, also too in order to make vanish the clear sensations of the 2 pinots I drank just yesterday and the day before which were delicious
Unfortunately I keep comparing them
Day 1: Felton Rd was so much fleshier, even a little hot. I know it had to be different, but in the comparison it definitely lacked elegance, harmony and enjoyment. Though it had personality
Day 2:another wine, fully enjoyable, very defined, focus, pleasant. Not hot anymore. Still thousands of kms away from Burgandy, like it should be (but also so apart from others Central Otago pinots)
More than decent after taste

Bannockburn Riesling 2015

The aroma gives away the wine's origin, at least for me, with petrol and rubbery hints tickling the nasal passages. Lemon, lime, pineapple, honey, crushed stone, and rose petals ensue. The taste is like a sweeter-styled Spatlese. It leads with notes of honeyed citrus and cream, finishing with bruised apples, burnt sugar, and nuanced minerality. The flavours linger for a while, but is ultimately dominated by cloying sweetness. That is not to say that acidity was lacking, because the finish definitely sparkled with the cut of steely acidity on the tongue, but the sugar still persisted over this. The 15' Felton Road Bannockburn Riesling certainly looks well-made, but leaves me looking for some relief after a few glasses. Food wine for me. — a month ago

Martinelli Road Chardonnay 2015

Classic RRV Chard served for Thanksgiving 2019. Nose of herbs and butter. Entry of honeysuckle, mango, wildflowers. Middle gains a limestone grit. Finishes with brighter acidity than I would have expected given that the entry of this wine is quite a bit more rounded than I expected it to be. Hint of walnut. Very balanced. These wines are built for an extremely long haul, 1 to 2 decades. Drink or hold. — 7 days ago

Block 5 Pinot Noir 2014

Sublime - so much better than first bottle 2 years ago. Garnet with a slight orange rim. Brooding nose of mushroom, red and black cherry, and wood spice. Some funk. Medium bodied. Super elegant and textural. Dark fruit, spicy plums, sour cherry. Super long with a final sweet note. Complex and powerful but incredibly light on its feet. Singing! — 3 days ago

The Road Less Traveled Tempranillo 2017

Very dark. Holy high alcohol Jim! 14.9%. Smells a bit like port, grandma’s fruit cake, & blackberry/black cherry jam. Also like Christmas. I heard that from somebody. This wine is all Christmas. Flavor is similar to nose. Toasty, toffee, smokey, slightly raisiny. It has a nice dry, earthy finish though. The ink and graphite hint late. It’s a unique, big Tempranillo, but it’s tasty and delicious. Best on a cold night as the last one... — 20 days ago
