Amaro San Simone

San Simone

Novant' anni diVini Evante Friuli Grave Merlot 2015

Amazing wine. Couldn’t stop drinking it! Layers upon layers of dark earthy fruit with a light uplifting elegance seldom experienced. And all that with an evolving complexity that remains in perfect harmony. A total surprise. Didn’t know we had this in our cellar 😅 — a year ago

Nursed this bottle for almost six years after bringing it back from Piemonte. Probably one of my favorite amaro with less bitter and more rs. — 11 years ago

Tenuta San Guido

Guidalberto Toscana Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2012

Redcurrant, lush cherry, soft worn leather, ocean breeze, bitter orange, clove. Almost reminiscent of Amaro. Sip, savor, contemplate a moment, repeat. Needs time, though — 11 years ago

Prestige Friuli Grave Merlot 2015

Drinking a Merlot from north eastern Italy is a whole different experience. Dark, earthy and minerally. Mild, very approachable, little tannins yet a lingering finish. — 4 years ago

Nexus Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

Awesome! Dry and mineral. Lingering notes of iron. Really opened nicely over the 2 hours. We had it in the decanter. Unfortunately I was working in my office while Tammy sat next to the decanter...... so my rating is challenged with the fact I had very little to taste 😳 — 9 years ago

New Amaro I brought back from Italy. This one is from Sorrento and is personally one of my new favorites. It's up there with Braulio riserva — 11 years ago

San Lorenzo Rosso Conero Red Blend 2015

I’ve been drinking a well-regarded Amaro fro le Marche lately, and the nose on this reminds me of that herb- infused smell. Also some smoke, tobacco, menthol, and a little barnyard funk . Lovely black fruit with some good tannins that blend in so well with food: on this case, homemade ricotta gnocchi, with homemade brasciole, homemade sausage ( homemade) tomato sauce, and garden greens from the deck. Feasting tonight. Such a soft, expressive wine. Rosso Conero is the finest expression of montepulciano — 6 years ago

We drank Gansett (or PBR, etc.), but we ate decently. I was just thinking of herb smell, tobacco, menthol, and funk. haha

West Hartford these days Severn. And Chris, sad to say, but we didn’t eT or drink so well at PC.

Antonelli San Marco

Montefalco Sagrantino 2012

Deceptively transparent in color for its sheer tannic grip. The wine continues to blossom with air - expanding on the mid-palate to flavors of dry, cut stones, white pepper, dried sage and violets, jasmine, and black sesame. A pleasant amaro character brings a pointedness to the finish. Intense, yet intriguing. — 8 years ago

Intensely flavored amaro, strong anis, thick thick body. Similar to Fernet, but not quite as "nasty", if that makes sense? — 10 years ago

Had this on Easter with different fish dishes. Apricot notes on the palate, lingered well. I would suggest this to anyone. Fantastic refreshing flavors on a hot day 🍾 — 10 years ago

Nice ripe cherries and plums on the nose. With a hint of wet road tar. Very nice balance with a minerality. Dark chocolate and ripe red fruits on the palate. — 11 years ago
