カリフォルニアらしいジャミーな味わいと複雑さが同居したカベルネソービニオン — 6 years ago
[Tasted on October 10, 2020 at Home during the Virtual Nashville Wine Auction]
Estate fruit from Annahala (77%) and Apple Barn (23%) vineyards in Anderson Valley. Cool and coastally-influenced vineyards. Barrel aged for 10 months in 41% new French oak. Sweet black cherry, black raspberry and strawberry fruit, with graphite, violets, and mineral and smoky notes.

Very nice flavorful wine! — 6 years ago
2 hour decant (minimal fine sediment). The much hyped 2005 vintage!.....A dazzling dark purple/ruby red. On the nose: black fruit, forest floor, cedar, and the start of some barn yard funk. Taste: blackberry, currents, graphite, tar...tannins still there, but starting to sweeten with a long brooding finish. If you like em young and have some bottles, open one and keep the others for the next 20 years (we will pop another in 4 years). — 7 years ago

Barn yard smell, almost carbonated. Delicious! — 7 years ago
Excellent wine on its own or wen with chicken Parmesan! — 8 years ago
— a year ago
Affordable (at bottle king), with distinct flavor profile: fruit, flower notes, leather — 7 years ago
Way too young. Wait a decade, at least. Wouldn’t be fair to judge honestly. Like a unbridled beast that just arrived in its new barn. — 7 years ago
Best $18 bottle Pinot that I’ve had in quite some time. Thank you to the great people at the California Wine Country podcast and Bottle Barn in Santa Rosa for turning me onto this wine... — 7 years ago
Deep ruby color.
Aromas of barnyard, earth, leather, dried cherry, dried herbs, peppercorn.
Dry. Flavors of barn floor, leather, dried thyme, black olive, peppercorn. Rich, chewy tannins.

1.5 hour decant (decent chunky/fine/cloudy sediment). An amazing dark purplish ruby red color...still looks young. On the nose: Nice big beautiful aromatics of graphite, currants, forest floor, sweet tobacco, creme brulee, and a little green veggie/barn yard funk. Taste: NICE! A smooth, soft, elegant, vibrant medium plus body wine with cedar, leather, blueberry, earth, smoke, and a crushed gravel-pencil lead_medium plus finish. Could drink this all night, but will probably be gone in the next hour. — 5 years ago

Color a is murky red brown. Nose—a sweet red cherry plum and forest floor barn yard funk with green veggie. A slight menthol lingering. Taste— Sweet strawberry tea flavors hit the pallet. A slight smoky and tobacco medium finish with touches of currant, tea and spices hanging around making the wine soft and pleasant and wanting more. Tannins have sweeten but definitely still there! — 6 years ago
Double decant (lots of fine sediment). A beguiling Deep Purple [Machine Head rules]. On the nose: black fruit, earthy, floral some slight barn yard funk which I luv. Taste: silky, nice balance with black cherry, pencil lead, spice and cedar with a long finish...drink em now or over the next 8 years!! — 7 years ago
Wanted to like this one but it was really fading. Loads of barn yard, iron, not a ton of fruit. Expected much more. — 7 years ago
Beautiful, dark red, perfume fruits. Black currants, blackberries, dark cherries, black plum, black raspberries, boysenberries, lots of blue fruits, expresso, anise, leather, some graphite, sweet dark moist soils, medium intensity volcanic minerals, limestone with blue and dark red floral bouquet.
The body is full. The tannins are round and nicely soften. The structure, length, tension and balance have hit harmony with plenty of life left ahead. Dark currants, blackberries, dark cherries, black plum, black raspberries, boysenberries, loads of blue fruits, expresso roast, anise, dark chocolate, a little caramel, leather, some graphite, leather, dry tobacco, touch of dry herbs, sweet dark moist soils, medium intensity volcanic minerals, limestone and blue and dark red floral bouquet. The acidity is round and beautiful. The finish is long, very well balanced, elegant, polished and lasts minutes.

Now this is Pinot Noir the way it was meant to be! Floral, more subtle and less in your face like Meomi or Belle Glos. The nose is shy upon opening but after a couple of decanter days, it’s really come alive! Excellent with pork or salmon and turkey, it’s great for sipping or pairing. The mouthfeel is excellent and the flavors linger long after your last sip. Never thought California Pinot could be so authentic tasting. — 8 months ago
