Anderson Valley Pinot Noir 2015

2015 is the end of the line for appellation wines bottled under the Rhys label. They will be repurposing the Alesia label to be used exclusively for appellation level wines which will be made with 100% Rhys estate vineyard fruit. This one in particular comes fully from the Bearwallow vineyard in Anderson Valley. It’s a lovely medium weighted pinot with raspberry, loam, and white pepper. med+ acidity and mild tannin. Improves with air and should improve over the next 3-5 yrs, although delicious now. — 3 months ago

Alesia Green Valley of Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2006

Very pretty but really blossoms with air, as tangerine peel and a little pine cones out to play, clearly California but with class and restraint. Still plenty of gas left in the tank on this one but it is very good now with some time open. — 8 months ago

Just beautiful, tart red fruit, a touch of stems bring a bit of menthol and spice, it just makes me happy. — 3 months ago

Alesia Pinot Noir 2007

Wish I had more. Surprisingly primary - driven by wild raspberry and candied rose that is precise and vividly clear. Notes of black and roibos tea, dried leaves, tobacco with a solid tannic structure and refreshing acidity. This is very enjoyable but not close to peak — a year ago

Alder Springs Vineyard Chardonnay 2013

This is very different CA chard. All the comments about tropical fruit are right on. Acid is pretty mild. There is a nice creaminess in the mid-palate that I think comes from some malo, I dont get any vanilla notes from oak. A nice change of pace that I think will be more interesting in a few years. — 4 months ago
