Dark ruby color with purple highlights. Expressive aromas of red berries, rose petals, violets and red plum. Bold palate is a blend of red and black cherries, red and black berries and sweet baking spices. Firm tannins and hefty structure. Long lasting and vibrant. Wonderful freshness and very versatile from a pairing perspective. I did not notice the 15+% alcohol content. Solid QPR. — 7 months ago
Interesting…. Can’t say I love it. — 3 years ago
Probably the best Dolcetto I have experienced! — 4 years ago
2021 vintage. A bit of everything. Esteemed producer. Excellent nose. Front-palate richness. Mid-palate power and presence. Pleasantly astringent and beyond substantial finish. I usually eschew Barbera d'Alba for the resto list but couldn't deny this one. Picked up two cases and may pick up more to have laying around for 1.5-2 years. At the ridiculous resto price of $26.67, I can't afford not to. So delicious. 01.29.25. — 3 months ago
Popped and poured; no formal notes. The 2021 Burlotto Barbera d’Alba “Aves” is developing; redolent of impossibly dark berry fruits with some purple flowers and earthy clay-like minerals. Medium tannin and medium+ acid. High alcohol. The finish is long and has a bit of a salmiakki thing on the finish that’s really nice. This is a really good wine right now but it’s undeniably primary and I think it’s holding something back. I won’t touch another bottle for at least a few years. Drink now with patience and through 2036. — 2 years ago
The 2020 “del Comune di Serralunga d’Alba” is a traditional blend of three MGAs from Serralunga: mostly younger vines from Baudana, Cerretta and now, some fruit from Costabella. Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of several hours. The 2020 pours a beautiful garnet with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with tart and ripe notes of Morello cherry, pomegranate, talcum powder, red roses, dry earth and old wood. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and slightly savory. I took the opportunity to enjoy this alongside the “Baudana” and this didn’t have the same elegance but it’s a very complete and balanced Barolo. Drink now through 2040. — 5 months ago
I would buy again — 2 years ago
Nice and dry, I liked it a lot. Cold concrete basements in the summer vibes. Just soily enough. Would drink again for sure. With meat. — 3 years ago

Some blackberry, Smokey notes, so soft in the mouth. Went very well with risotto and sausage. I have to think that’s the pairing in Piedmont for most people. The average Italian there ain’t drinking Barbaresco every night. — 16 days ago
