Wakatake Onikoroshi (Demon Slayer) Junmai Ginjo Sake

This is a nice sake. This is a “mag” but I think the aromatics are diminished due to the age of the bottle or the chill I have in it. I’m just not getting much. To me the flavors are great and I’m not surprised it’s got an SMV if +\- 0 it’s like drinking water. Little alcohol on the backend. — 6 months ago

Label said it went with spicy food and I agree. Loving it with Thai.

Very special Xinjiang beer. Little bit of rice adds a sweet touch to it but it's not overwhelming like other Asian beers with rice usually get.
Not for daily drinking but once a while very special larger with sweet tones.

I’ll buy this to try at home with a white wine glass, as a small sake cup robs the depth I think is here. — 3 years ago

Always a treat. Such an incredible and unusual distillate. Currently being served in the Air Canada LHR lounge, I almost couldn’t believe my eyes. — 6 months ago

Agree w others it is quite cedar especially initially. Becomes more of a lingering aftertaste as it opens — a year ago

This green can, made from the newest/youngest rice of the season and dated with a manufacturing date of Nov '21 is delicious. It offers a subtle aroma and similar sweet entry as the gold can version but much better of the alcohol so it doesn't have a burning hot finish. Good with some steamed edamame as a pre dinner warm up. — 2 years ago

Poached pear and candied ginger, cinnamon and cedar, pine, burnt, and smoldering. Apples, orange zest, dried apricot, candied pineapple nose.
Orange oil, cinnamon, caramel, lemongrass, lemon oil and grapefruit conspire on a racy finish that lingers with perfume.

Hanagoi Japanese Sake Umeshu

Wow! Deep burnt orange in color. Big nose of plum (surprise). Medium bodied palate of… plum! And a real plum at that. Not too sweet, rather just as sweet as a very ripe plum. The finish is like what you get from a bite into an actual plum. This ain't your father's plum wine. This plum flavored sake is a fantastic finish to a Japanese or any other meal. Drink with fresh plums when you by it! — 2 years ago

Little alcohol on the palate. Let’s see after a bit but for right now this is a fair rating. — 2 years ago

4th in tasting. I’m really liking this one. It’s just got a bit of everything nose, viscosity, taste, finish. Way solid. This is surprising to me since I would have thought that independent bottlers would have been at a disadvantage to the actual producer. Learning. — 4 years ago
