Not in the soccer field, but at the house!! Lovely, velvet cab. Psylocke in color. Doesn’t smell like awesome but the taste is full bodied. I could use more jam but it’s solid!! — 2 months ago

Tonight we did a Napa merlot tasting with our Spaghetti dinner. 2020 Duckhorn’s Napa Merlot against 2019 Whitehall Lane Merlot.
The Whitehall is ruby colored with aromas of raspberry, candied apple, and a bit of earthiness. On the bud, a nice spice note and cherry. It’s rich and very smooth. Our winner is the Whitehall. Note the this is $40 at the winery while the Duckhorn is $58. — a month ago
Deep purple color with aromas of ripe dark fruits, floral, cedar and sweet baking spices. On the palate flavors of ripe cherry and plum with notes of black pepper, cacao, licorice and cinnamon. Fine tannins, long finish ending with ripe fruit and spice. Nice! — a month ago
Blue and black fruits, perfectly restrained with bottle age. Cinnamon hints. Full, spherical body. Nice alcohol level, just enough heat to match a mesquite grilled filet mignon. Long finish. My words don't do this justice.

My initial foray into “good” wine opened my eyes to many things including waitlists and allocations. This producer was my first waitlist. I still enjoy their wines today, especially ones with a bit of age.
2016 Williams Selyem Olivet Lane - the winemaker notes are spot on. Black cherry and musky herbs dominate the nose of this wine. A bouquet of violets softens the edges of the aromatics, while savory elements of anise and celery seed add another level of complexity to this dynamic wine. The flavors are equally as exciting with notes of dark cherry and plum, and zesty acidity.
Good things come to those who wait. And waitlists for the really great ones are 😒. — 9 days ago
