Nose is elegant. Has some age. Really deep. Maybe grapefruit rind. That old Riesling complexity. Wow. Gorgeous.
Palate is fresh. Deep. Very good. A hint of yellow grapefruit but more just this sense of amazing depth. Excellent acidity. So good.

More massive minerals on the epic nose. Pulverized slate dust. So complex. Apricot. Peach. So vivid. Some vulcanized rubber. Deeply penetrative nose. Herbal and salty. Rich, racy, creamy and very complex. Juicy and elegant. Serene. Yet suberb mineral structure and awesome purity. Almost tannic on the finish. Amazing breadth and depth. Finish is forever. What a wine! Citrus now on the nose. Tangerine juice. Pink grapefruit. Power, elegance and insane concentration. Wow. Superb depth. Endless depth. Special. — 16 days ago
Stunning nose. Just grips you. Huge ripeness. Stone fruits and apricots. Honey. Lychee. So clear and vivid though also has amazing refinement. Slate comes through after 10 minutes in the glass. But these will last for days and days. Lime flesh. Keeps opening and opening. Palate is stunning. So decadent and sappy but with great freshness from the intense minerality. So sappy and pure. Amazing mouthfeel here. Rich and opulent but also has just enough acidity to keep it together and then the minerality propels you across the finish line. This will improve with air. My score will go up.
After 4 hours this is a marvel and a stunner. Nose is more restrained and mineral. Palate has stunning treacly texture and such depth and finishes dry but with opulence. Stunning. But still a 9.6. — a month ago
Nose is super mineral and slatey. Creamy as well. So sleek and refined. Slate dust. Pulverized slate. Floral? This nose is stunning. Brilliant. 9.8 nose because it is so expansive, detailed and expressive. People are sleeping on 2020. So elegant and refined. Stunning levels of concentration. So deep and so juicy. Perfect balance. Not a hair out of place and chunky, intense and ridiculous minerality. At once playful and at once mineral and serious. Nose starts with ginger, spice and even mild paprika. Huge concentration and delineation and a wine that takes over your mouth. It’s young yes but the insanely long finish suggests a long life. Wow. With air this gets so elegant. Unreal.
With air this is even better. So integrated on the nose. Palate is so elegant, chewy and just stunningly accessible. Just wow. — 3 days ago
Hugely mineral nose. So much slate. Some lovely pure apricots as well. Gorgeous clarity and freshness. Killer. A mineral blizzard. So refined. Herbs as well. Just so clean and so Mosel. Palate is so elegant and a hint of creaminess and lovely saline, and elegant finish. This is pure class in a glass. Outrageous complexity. What length. The finish is insanely mineral with lingering flavors of apricot and peach. Super juicy and so clear. Saline. Awesome acid and mineral backbone. Still has more to say. Wow. I’ll be back. Such crunchy minerality. Sappy and so pure. Amazing length.
overnight this went from 9.5 to 9.7. stunning minerality and concentration. so so dry. a genius wine. — 16 days ago
Just a stunning and unique nose of startling originality. Wild mint, flowers and pollen. Marzipan. Really floral like a flower shop but also the pollen is really there and really unique! Stunning. Deep slate and minerality behind it all. Genius. The vividness and accuracy of the aromas is blowing my mind. 9.9 nose. Just magical. Smells Tolkienesque. My god how elegant this wine is and super fresh. Intense, exploding minerality and endless depth. The acid is perfection for all the wealth of material. Length is stupid long. This glides on the palate. What a mid palate and an almost tannic grip on the finish. This initially is 100% mineral on the palate and I’m curious if it will fruiten up. I know it will. That finish is full of pulverized slate and keeps going and going. Amazing concentration and mouthfeel. The acid is so straight. Doesn’t go up or down, weather stays right down the middle of the plate. I love this when. So unique, delicious and exciting. I’ll be back as it airs out. — 24 days ago
Big nose. Creamy and ripe. Superb slate and so fine and refined. But also wide open and expansive. Yellow fruits and such fine and dense minerality. Palate is ripe and elegant. Chewy and rich but also fresh and mineral and long. Gets to every nook and cranny. Maybe a feinherb style? Huge mid palate and so elegant but precise and wide open. There is a hidden density here. Love the extra RS which makes this so sexy and drinkable. Breathtaking nose now. Much more mineral and less creamy and ripe. Needed that ripeness to blow off. I love slate. Can never get enough. Terrific concentration. Lacks the depth of the GG’s.
Now after 10 hours this is such a beauty. 9.4 to 9.5. Nose more integrated and palate is a work of art. Juicy, creamy, energetic and so concentrated. Mouthwatering. — 3 days ago
@Delectable Wine this is the one star. * thanks!
There’s something about middle Mosel Pinot I find thrilling. Nose has herbs, light red cherries and sour cherries and commandingly soars from the glass. Hint is spicey wood that is so appealing and if course this is on top of huge amounts of aromatic slate. This has unreal levels of just gorgeous minerality. Palate has oceans of sweet fruit and lovely soft impression with an intriguing mineral and salty finish. Sour and mid season cherries galore. Beautiful velvety tannins that are wonderfully sweet but also a bit big and drying but I think air will resolve that. Very juicy and pure with a hint of slightly green/sour element on the finish that keeps this from 9.3. Let’s see what air does. Air has made this decline slightly to a 9.1. — 24 days ago
Very interesting wine that I was very curious to try. A field blend of so called ‘medieval’ varietals - Fränkischer Burgunder, Hartblau, Süsschwarz, Schwarzblauer Affenthaler, Schcwarzurban. I had never heard of, let alone tasted any of these previously. The result is a medium bodied wine with good backbone and solid acidity. It had a little bitterness at first, which dissipated with some air time. Good wine, and exciting to taste something completely unknown. — a month ago
