'Crasa Contrada' Etna Rosso Nerello Mascalese 2017

From Le Volpe e l’uva, this is not as good an expression of nerella mascalese as what comes out of a place like Passopisciaro, but you can’t beat it for the price. Italy in a glass… — 2 days ago

The Granny Smith apple pie sweetness, very buttery, silky mouth feel with a smooth, almost sparkling finish. — 3 months ago

Paski Campania Bianco Coda di Volpe 2018

Wild child full of life. Things moving, chattering, evolving. Very busy.

Salty sour hazy murk of 70 year d Coda di Volpe. Big hit of VA on the nose. Fresh apricots and sour starfruit left to ferment.

Tastes salty, very salty. And tart and tannic and like something I’d describe as tropical apricot black tea.

Taerra Vermentino di Gallura Superiore 2019

Another wine from Ciro at Le Volpe e l’uva, this vermentino was terrific and was a perfect pairing with the homemade potato gnocchi with pesto that Vanessa made for dinner. Yum! — 4 months ago

Delicious and balanced. Not too sweet, not too dry with just the right amount of complexity. — 5 months ago

I Pentri

Pietra Della Volpe Aglianico 2007

When I opened this I knew nothing about the wine. Like it’s age - from the 2007 vintage. Or the grape - Aglianico. Or the depth. Lots of it.

Pours a brick purple, aromatics bursting. Cocoa, coffee, cedar, cigar smoke.

Il Valtenesi Da Uve Groppello 2018

Super! I wanted a wine that could hold up with fish. Super floral and leathery aromatics, soft red fruit, cherry, orange peel, strawberry. High acidity and no tannin, perfect with tomato and fish. This is a gem, I would highly recommend but absolutely need food. Should be a given with Italian wine but just so I’m clear. Salute! — 4 months ago
