Needs some time to open up, quite muted at opening.
Ripe quince, green pear, a touch of lemon, thyme and other herbs - all in a rather cool, fresh packaging. A waxy hint and a mineral undercurrent. Very fresh.
On the palate this has great energy. Brilliant zingy acidity, all quince & lemons, but also nice breadth and good structure & depth. The minerality kicks in towards the finish with a saline whiff.
Quite some complexity here, and poise, too.
Very not Tokaj but delicious nonetheless.

Vigna Asinone Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Sangiovese 2016

If I could I would give it a 9.35. This is the 4th bottle I have over several years and it keeps on evolving in a positive way. Nose is terrific and fruit, acidity and tannins are melting together. I still have 2 so probably the last one will be at peak 🤞 — 13 days ago

Dark and brooding with deep flavor, dark cherry, cedar, leather, and tobacco. Good freshness and gentle grip.

It came out of the bottle with sharp edges and harsh tannins, but really came together and drank beautifully after a 1.5 hour decant.

Man the Appasiemento is really showing in this wine. Yowza. Tar, roses, raisins. Smells almost like Lessona Sforzato. Really weird. Some nice older library books, old wood and sultana. What a crazy nose. I like it. Palate is much more classic than the nose suggests. Big, ripe but also classy and elegant with dark cherry fruit and wood shop shavings. Luscious and juicy but my only issue is it’s drying and the tannins outpace the fruit. Drink now versus aging it longer. — 13 days ago

Exceptionally light extraction, high toned and infused. Crushed raspberry and cranberry, highly floral almost geranium, dried orange, black tea, dried herbs, potpourri, crushed rock, white pepper, 4-EP.
