On the Lawn at Tanglewood this afternoon with our first show of the season, a popular artist event with The Mavericks / Nick Lowe / Los Straitjackets. A lot of guitar talent on stage today! — 11 days ago
My mother adores this wine.
A tad too hot and intense for me at the moment. It’s drinking like a cross between a nice Aussie Shiraz and young Cornas. Ripe blueberry, fig, blackberry, olive tapenade, singed herbs, licorice. Long finish. Give it some more time.

The wife and I did a fun Syrah blind tasting with the coravin. We ranked the wines exactly the same. I feel like a Modus Operandi fanboy, but their wines really do perform well in these blind tastings. #1 Modus Operandi 2018 Caldwell Vineyard Syrah #2 Dumol 2016 Wild Mountainside Russian River Valley Syrah # 3 Kimsey 2017 Syrah. The MO and DuMol were much better than the Kimsey. I was really disappointed in the Kimsey. It just wasn’t there. Since DuMol is tagged here, the nose had dark fruits and a bit of funk. Flavors were nice, and the finish lingered a bit, but not as long as I would have liked. Score is for the DuMol. — 19 days ago
W. Very clean expression of syrah. More tannins the second night — 10 days ago
Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Great nose of blueberries, blackberries, black currants, cooked cherries, light cedar, earth, licorice, spices, chocolates, coffee, tobacco, light vanilla, pencil lead and peppercorn.
Medium bodied with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, plums, cooked cherries, oak, herbs, vanilla, licorice, cloves, spices, dark chocolates, coffee, peppercorn and tobacco leaf.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a very tasty Grenache blend from Russian River Valley. Showing nice complexity now, with a great nose.
This 8 year old is peaking now. Nicely balanced with a soft mouthfeel. Elegant and extracted. Fruit forward and spicy.
Easy drinking, good right out of the bottle, and better after an hour of airtime.
I had it 3 years ago, and it is definitely better now. Tangy and interesting.
I gave it a light chill, and had it all by itself.
A blend of 58% Grenache, 22% Mourvedre, 18% Syrah and 2% Petite Sirah.
14.6% alcohol by volume.

Keller Estate La Cruz Vineyard Syrah 2007: Medium-plus bodied. Nice balance. Soft tannins. Blue & blackberry fruit dominate. Plum. Subtle oak. Smooth warm finish. All in all, an excellent & powerful Sonoma Coast cool climate Syrah! Great week to all! Cheers🍷 — a month ago
