A Criolla Chica planted in Barreal, Calingasta, at 1,550 meters above sea level, up to 10% fermented in whole bunches. Terracotta in hue, it presents notes of strawberry, damp earth, herbs and traces of menthol as well as faint aromas of almond cookie and rum cake. Offers a complex mix of simple flavors; on the palate, the tannins are active with heightened freshness and a ruggedness that sticks to the gums, while the innate fruitiness comes out at the back of the throat. A great wine with a profile one rarely sees in reds on the local scene. (Joaquín Hidalgo, Vinous, October 2020) — 8 days ago
Chocolate ganache nose sows lime zest and cedar, vanilla panna cotta, lemon tart, hazelnut, absinthe film, and orange rind across a semi-hot surface that resembles an exotic, forgotten cocktail; tea biscuit, lavender and creme caramel. An olfactory feast that endlessly inspires. Soft and warm palate with herbaceous thyme, chive, cilantro, basil afloat on vanilla-caramel, lemongrass, tea tree oil, bay, lemon zest, lime pith, and candied lemon. Cappuccino and bakers chocolate, spun sugar, dark brown sugar, apple blossom honey, treacle, baklava, pine nut, pecan, and coffee cookie. Most interesting is the layers of cascading flavors maintain their original impact while generously allowing the next to shine seamlessly. I have had this many times sans analysis, without fully appreciating its impeccable composition. A triumph! .

Deep gold verging on amber. Sweet vanilla, a healthy dose of coconut, Xmas spices - cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice..., Graham cracker, butter cookie, passion fruit candy, lemon candy, honey, saffron, VA- geranium, creme brûlée, caramel, gravelly minerality, forest floor. High acid and long finish. — a month ago
It's really fragrant, with these floral aromas that remind me of violet and honeysuckle. A bit of cedary wood, baking spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. On the palate, the spices and cedar are joined by some ripe fruity flavors, white raisins, ripe pears, marzipan, toasted almonds. a bit of oak tannin. Ginger snap cookie. Opens up beautifully with water. Long, long finish. — 12 days ago
Peach cobbler, caramel-apple, baked pear tartlet, pine nettle, sweet corn, dried red cherry, cedar-on-grill, brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, chilies, generous oak that includes acorns, crisp vanilla cookie make the nose. Hot initially, with oregano oil, cinnamon and tobacco. Revisit yields subtleties, including lemon oil, grapefruit pith, orange peel, arabica, eucalyptus, apricot, red chilies, Mexican cigar spices, and peppercorn dust. Cinnamon-oak builds to a crescendo of resinous might in a cloud of foundry smoke. Allspice appears with oregano following hot on its trail. Just concluded the annual Fall seclusion at our cabin in the Rangeley lakes region of Maine, mobile service up there is mostly non-existent, after several days I am posting again. Notes are somewhat brief, as my focus is relaxing and watching the Common Loons swimming and diving in the cove in front of our camp.
Reddish-brown, translucent; mid-shoulder fill for this particular bottle, saturated cork but solid without any deterioration. Enjoyed in our Gabriel Glas's.
Nose has wet earth, forest moss, dehydrated black cherry, molasses cookie, cherry compote, over-ripe strawberry, wet wood, cherry syrup reduction and mahogany shavings.
Palate has dried cherry, dried strawberry, (minor) metallic minerals, dry soil, medium tannins on the long finish. Anyone still holding this should consider enjoying this in the near term (2020-2024), when held in proper storage. — a month ago
Full of pear aromas, spice, and tropical fruits on the palate. Smart acidity, full on the palate, with buttery texture and vanilla hints. — 20 days ago
Not bad from cork pop, but definitely better after 90 min of air. Nose is youthful oak and slightly ripe blackberry, sandalwood. Palate all ripe blackberry and attenuated pepper spice with a hint of sandalwood. Some iodine when moving to the mid-palate. Initially I was getting a a fairly strange Oreo cookie kind of note. The finish is a little direct and still a bit on the youthful side but this is gaining. The best years of this are ahead of it for sure. Going to be a force in 2023 and plan to hold my 3L of this for much much longer. — 19 days ago
