Infanticide!
But…there it was. It sang it’s siren song.
N: Big , beefy, dirty red beet, musky black cherries. Smoke and tar.
P: Black cherries, blood, iron, earth, dirt,
It’s said the Coté du Py Gamay vines are 100 years +. It shows. A knockout structured Beaujolais that’s always a fave. Delicious, if I was 40, I’d make plans to stash some away for 20 years.
A bit saved, day two, blacker and more tannic.
To quote Romain..” I love it.”!!!

Actually speechless...as this lovely red opened up I became more and more memorized by it. I felt like a 24 year old enthralled with a siren. So impressed with the complexity. — 5 years ago

Vintage 2016 is a seductive siren to the palette, drawing me to pour another glass! 😉 — 7 years ago
We must be getting old as my homeboy & I remembered when this was 20$— now it’s north of 79$. First, that incredible, shimmering copper color, as if a siren call to the rewards that await. So many layers that never seem to stop: sherry- like on nose, with high pitched iodine, but deeper & round on the palate. Hints of bergamot, cinnamon bark, oyster mushroom, clove, faded citrus fruit. So so alive. What a treat. Part 2 with slow roasted grapefruit chicken, roasted eggplant with yogurt sauce & the early innings of a another wild Mets win. — 3 years ago
Super easy to drink, with gentle fruit forward flavors, sweet and tangy — 6 years ago
12% alcohol is my siren song, so had to try: an equal blend of Duras, Broucol, & Syrah—candy red color & white pepper squared, thought this may work better in a smaller glass but no, this would benefit from a short decant. The black currant & red fruits have a few gears & fill out (& with tautness) with air. A delish vin de soif & under 15$ a no brainer. Wine Universe imports — 6 years ago

1996 vintage. Multiple (6) bottles tasted 1hr, 2hrs and 4 hrs after decanting. Sleek and linear. Not gratuitous and giving just yet but close. Needs another 5-7 years to absolutely ingratiate itself into your psyche/cellar/glass if you're a robot/AI or actually have patience. Sexy af. Decided and dedicated temptress throwing out just enough historic, Lalande-styled love currently to seduce completely if your patience is lacking. Total siren song. Fill those ears with wax and watch your bank account. Beware. This just may be the longest lived Lalande vintage I've ever hit. Discounted the 1996 vintage big-time initially but deffy mistaken with this specific/particular wine. Hard to locate but if you do, it's a go to. Been trying to source since tasting this vintage, without luck, since this visit. Number one on the Most Wanted BDX list currently. Pray for me. 4.4.23. — 2 years ago
