Rated previously! Consistently great Chardonnay for the price! I struck out on my weekend wine
so I am really appreciating this and has blossomed since the last bottle.
Said goodbye to my daughter in IA City today, 😪 16 hrs. away is a whole lot different than 1 hr.
But I am super excited for her last yr. of Grad school..New Haven CT bound! — a month ago
After seeing a couple notes on CT claiming this was ready and didn’t need much of a decant, curiosity got the best of me. Woof...maybe my bottle was an outlier, but this is NOT READY.
I followed this over two days. Day one I gave this about a two hour decant. Very tannic and shut down on the palate. A wall of miscellaneous red and black fruit followed by a seriously tannic finish. I re-corked, then decanted another hour and a half on day two and it made all the difference in the world. Much more open knit. The aromatics were classic Dry Creek zin with maraschino cherries dipped in fondue, cedar, baking spices and a mix of red and black licorice. On the palate, the acidity remained high over both days and came across very high toned...lots of red and black fruits (rhubarb, fleshy black cherries, raspberry infused dark cocoa) alongside kirsch, boysenberry jam (just a hint) and more cedar and sandalwood. This zin master has crafted another fabulous zin, but like many Ridge zins, this needs a good bit of time (and that’s coming from someone who enjoys a good amount of flavor). Hold for 3+yrs, or decant 4-6hrs. — 5 months ago
2021/2/27 with birthday delivery from Joel Robuchon. I hadn’t had this in years, and while I remember liking it before, it was wonderful this time around. The caramel and hazelnut is reminiscent of mature Champagne, but there’s still freshness and minerality. — 2 months ago
Quilt pays tribute to Napa Valley’s wines, sourced from a patchwork of prime Napa Valley vineyards. Met Joseph Wagner on a trip to CT and tasted his wines, Joe signed a few bottles for me. Pale lemon color with aromas of fresh fruit, citrus and honey scents. On the palate apple, pineapple and lemon zest flavors with light toasty notes. Savory, well balanced on medium+ finish, great mouthfeel ending with mineral tones. Very nice Joe! — 3 months ago
Pop and pour. Vinous note suggested early drinking, CT tasting notes suggest waiting. Split the difference? I was expecting a fruit-forward modern-styled barolo, and while this definitely leans modern, it is not over-the-top. In fact, quite charming at this stage. On the nose: classic blood orange, soft florals, but modern sandalwood inflections, with some dried strawberry secondary notes. On the palate: excellent acidity, bitter herbs, dried raspberry, dried sage, and soft plum. Serious tannin kicks in, but the finish is juicy enough that most food pairings will soften the tannic blow. Tipping the scales at a burly 14.5% ABV, but this is surprisingly nimble. I really enjoyed this... — 20 days ago

Last ‘15. Owner and Winemaker Joe Wagner’s agricultural roots as a lifelong grapegrower and winemaker. Medium Ruby with black berry fruit aromas and sweet spice notes. On the palate blueberry & blackberry flavors with vanilla oak notes, well balanced. Soft sweet tannins, long finish ending with fruit and spice notes. Very nice. Great value.
