Zaca Mesa

Clydesdale Estate Vineyard 2016

In the beginning too tight, too tannic, too concentrated and just not fun to drink. After 48 hours in a half drunk bottle, we see a surprising glow up—this heavy Central Coast Syrah blossomed into a different wine! Now it’s rich but balanced, smooth but complex, a true pleasure. 2016 vintage. Had it with Eggplant Parmesan from Bay Cities Deli the first time, when it was kinda rough, and then with assertive Swiss mountain cheeses from Andrew’s Cheese Shop, when it was silky. — 6 days ago

California Mourvedre 2017

The 2017 Andremily Mourvedre is a blend of 88% Mourvedre from the Alta Mesa, and Larner Vineyards, co-fermented with 3% Viognier, and polished off with a touch of Syrah from the White Hawk Vineyard.,
Forgot I still had 2 more bottles. Nice Monday night football 🏈 wine.

Zaca Mesa

Mesa Reserve Santa Ynez Valley Syrah 2011

Probably coming to the end of its lifespan but still mighty tasty. Inky dark color and a beguiling bouquet almost hide all the new oak in this. It’s got blackberry jelly, plums, cedar closet and black olives right out of the jar... but with some age on it, any quirkiness has been smoothed out. — a month ago

Silvaspoons Vineyard Touriga Nacional 2013

Jeff Runquist Wines Silvaspoons Vineyard ‘R’ Touriga 2013: This was an unfamiliar & new wine for me. Served by my sister, this California grown, Portuguese varietal was round & fruity with medium tannins & a nice soft finished. It was the perfect companion to start off the evening meal however it left me very intrigued to try more of this winemaker’s work! Seems they explore unique grape varietals from around the world. Sign me up! Cheers 🌍🍷 — a month ago
