Vieilles Vignes Cote Rotie Syrah 2016

Needed a whole day to become civilized. Stunning nose of blueberry, blackberry, graphite, granite and dark flowers. Some saddle leather as well. Also wet pottery clay. Palate is juicy and concentrated with terrific energy and thrust. Sappy and fresh with such fine grained tannins. Terrific layering and a soft density. So pure and deep. Elegant like only the best can be. Amazing balance and length. Age for 5-7 more years then watch out! — 2 days ago

Nose of ripe plums, blackberries, meats, vanilla and violets. Dark red with slight fading and brown tints around the rim. Creamy and remarkably delicate for the nose, rounded fruits, acidity doing well for balance, slight tightness still in the middle and proper finish of fruits and red/violet florals. Woody notes, grilled meats, slight wet stones. — 4 days ago

Amazing wine

Racy and finesse
I love raspberry ganache and hardcore mineral notes
Intense spine creates body and character that is purer than the Landonne or Turque but this is more elegant as the later two - stunning display of fruit and precision

This wine has ten plus years while I think this will not last as long as Turque or Landonne

La Landonne Côte-Rotie Syrah 1990

Decanted for a few hours, then taken to Saison in SF. Tawny color with lite rims, mostly translucent. Deep powerful nose, with notes of red fruit, smoked meat, dry brush, Asian spice, pepper, dark moist soil and a little menthol. Rich, silky and intense in the mouth. Long finish. Great juice. — 20 days ago

Great that Saison didn’t give you grief for bringing an open bottle.

Vin Nature Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2007

Quite polished in every way. Hard to compete after having the ‘88 Jamet right before it. — 12 days ago

La Chavaroche Côte-Rôtie Syrah

Sauvage

DAY 1
Served with the Vinloq System
👃Whoa! Rustic with cured meats, earth, leather, blue/black fruits, charred wood, & garrigue. Love this💕
👅Purple fruit, olives, garrigue, licorice & smoke. Rich and savory. Bold and delicious. Old world/old school. Bring on the grilled meat🥩

Remaining wine was Slow Decanted in my refrigerator

DAY 12
👃More pretty and slightly less wild now
👅More composed and maybe less fruit forward

Some may prefer this with more Slow Decanting to add more elegance and tame the beast a little, but I prefer the full-on sauvage form👍

Côte-Rôtie Syrah 1999

One of the great vintages for Jamet that is rich & deep showing black fruits, meat, smoke, olive, licorice, spice & mineral. Youthful & precise that will continue to drink well for many years — 18 days ago
