Côte-Rôtie Syrah

Taken to the outdoor theatre in Carmel. Dark and opaque. Exotic exciting nose. Notes of black cherry, dark soil, some menthol and some crushed granite stone. Always think of this as a poor mans La La and this fit that bill. Had a large stash of these and sadly it’s almost gone.

Dark regal tawny. Opaque. Awesome nose. Notes of black fruit, cigar, menthol, mocha, old wood, moist black soil, some camphor and some dry brush. Great fruit in the mouth with substantial structure and a lasting finish. Silky smooth. Love this wine.

Dark ruby with tawny rims. Killer cote rotie nose. Notes of exotic dark fruit, bacon fat, menthol, slate stone and some moist dark soil. Silky texture. Great juice.

Reddish purple. Translucent. Youthful appearance. Very aromatic nose. Earthy, with notes of tart rhubarb, cherry, smoked meat and some menthol. Outstanding in the mouth. Balanced, yet powerful. Another strong showing.

Forward, modern Cote Rotie. Evolved well and casis, currant and blackberry licorice in the glass.

Really great QPR Cote Rotie. Poor mans Guigal. Really rich with all those Cote Rotie qualities.

Bought on release. No brett!

Although it was mature, this is a bit too new-world style for our group. Lots of big fruit and oak, even after 12 years old.

Good and alive but expected elegance is not there

Smokey, mezcal-like taste never quite experienced before in any red wine. Very smooth. Moderate sediment.
