Outstanding meal at Ophelia in Quebec City. Austere, lean wine. Softened 30 min after opening. — a month ago
Elena Fucci is the sorceress of Aglianico—her wines are always true to the variety and her volcanic terroir - intense, raw, wild, savory, stinky and spicy - big and polished, but never overextracted or overoaked. SCEG manages to distill the best parts of her ageworthy iconic Titolo into a fun sized week night package: more of that plummy, black fruit and softer, friendlier tannins. The sotto bosco is still there — porcini mushroom, bay leaf, thyme, wet black rocks — along with licorice, the aforementioned fruits and so much pepper (a reminder that Syrah and aglianico share the same family tree) — 3 months ago
Slightly acidic and not as full as expected. Subtle floral and mineral notes with faded strawberry. The initially firm tannins became almost silky when we drank the rest the next day after decanting for half an hour. — 21 days ago

Medium deep ruby with garnet rim . Freshly cut herbs like sage and rosemary with cedar , plum and dark cherry , liquorice . On the palate quite dense but with fresh acidity and firm slightly dry tannins . More of the plum and dark spiced cherry , blackberry, herbal and liquorice touches on the reasonable length finish . Drinking well now though will continue to show well over the next 5 years . Slightly under the radar with good personality and surprising freshness . — a month ago

Big rich volcanic dark plum nose. Some Amerana cherry too. Bigger inhale brings
Soil/rocks.
Black/red on the palate, not great acidity, but enough. Balanced against protein. Nicely done — 6 hours ago
