Merlot done well as expected. Dangerously well paired with oven roasted chicken wings. Merry Christmas! — 8 months ago
Nose has ripe plum, cedar cigar box, lavender, dried blueberries, dried black currant, licorice candy, mashed black cherries with light alcohol heat (assumed from the Zinfandel).
Palate has over-ripe plum, blackberry, milk chocolate, granite dust, violets, cocoa powder, ripe blackberries with still present tannins and a long finish. Spectacular. Drink Magnum's on this 2020-2030, when in proper storage. Based on this evenings performance, I suspect this will be in prime enjoyment 2024+.
1500ml bottle bought from the winery in October 2008; a blend of 58% Zinfandel, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon.
A perfect pairing to amazing seasoned and grilled NY Strip steaks from Kinderhook Farm (Valatie, NY), pulled at 125° and will rested afterwards, barely needed knives this evening! — 2 years ago
Nose has cherry jam, wet leather, wet leaves, alcohol and dried cranberries.
Palate has under-ripe tart cherry, dried raspberries, dry leather and faint dry soil notes.
Not holding as well as the 2005 enjoyed over two evenings earlier this week. If improvement comes at 24H, notes might be updated. Decanted 90m. — a month ago
Sipping Fine Wine
Dark Ruby with aromas of ripe berry fruits, herbs and earthy spice. On the palate flavors of black cherry, raspberry and black currant with espresso, cacao and earthy spice notes. Well balanced, lively acidity, fine dusty tannins long ending with fruit and tobacco spice! Nice! — 15 days ago
