I think my first btl of this must have been from a friend's stock as I thought I was out of this. On the nose: massive reduction, with loads of struck match...this suggests a gravitas that the wine just can't live up to. Reduction dominates the nose, so there's nothing else to say about that. On the palate, hi-toned meyer lemon, rich lemon tart with butter, but surprisingly light-bodied..leaning a touch thin. Ok finish, which shows some white pepper. OK, but slightly disjointed...moral is: noble reduction and a big punt does not a great white burg make? — 6 years ago
[Night 1:] On the lower-toned end of the flavor spectrum. Dark, smoky, leathery notes take the lead on the nose, with some very dark cherry verging into blackberry fruit in the background. Loads of warm sandstone. Tannic, dark, and large-framed in the mouth. Maybe a tad scorchy. Not my style (I like ‘em with more cherry fruit and freshness). Others may like this more.
UPDATE: Night 2 this is much nicer. Dark cherry liqueur fruit has moved to the fore, and the tannins are not nearly as prominent. Amazingly, I’m upping this from 8.8 to 9.1. Obviously the moral of the story is to give this guy plenty of air. — 6 years ago

I thought it was very good. Hard to determine the variety though as it was a bit too acidic for my liking. But with food it was lovely — 7 years ago

Dark color. Nose has singed raspberries, graphite, sandalwood, sandstoney gravel. Pretty extracted and tannic for a Grenache, with ripe, but dark and bitter-ish black raspberry. Loads of soft but puckery tannin. Was decent with pasta but would shine with a steak.
UPDATE: Night 2, the fruit is sweeter, and there's no bitterness. So the moral of the story is give this plenty of air. Upping score from 8.8 to 9.0 — 9 years ago

2022 vintage. Hardly as bigg or explosive as the 2021 effort; this goes lean but not mean. Oh sure, there’s hints of a trail to follow yet you may need to refine/practice your compass and map work so as not to get lost. A bit more of the delicate side with a subtle, enduring finish. Pay attention to avoid the search and rescue. 05.14.25 — a year ago
