I think my first btl of this must have been from a friend's stock as I thought I was out of this. On the nose: massive reduction, with loads of struck match...this suggests a gravitas that the wine just can't live up to. Reduction dominates the nose, so there's nothing else to say about that. On the palate, hi-toned meyer lemon, rich lemon tart with butter, but surprisingly light-bodied..leaning a touch thin. Ok finish, which shows some white pepper. OK, but slightly disjointed...moral is: noble reduction and a big punt does not a great white burg make?

Aug 29th, 2020Stunning example of PYCM St. Aubin and first Les Combes. Slight matchstick, reductive quality with great mineral core and bright racy finish. Will be interesting to see how this improves in a few years. '14 living up to the reputation
