Very light delicious orange wine. Could have a little more flavor but it is very smooth and tasty. — 3 days ago
The goods. This is the goods. Gorgeous, haunting nose of flowers, mid season red cherry fruit and spices. This is decidedly red fruited and super pure. Love all the spice, mint and wild herb topnotes as well. Palate is so ethereal and lithe with wonderful purity of fruit and just incredible and engaging freshness. Delicate and slate like tannins and just super juicy and pure. Really well balanced and just a complete package here. So juicy with lovely tiny berry fruit intensity and a slippery feeling. It slips and slides in one’s palate. Very very special. As it airs the spice on the nose gets deafening. This is something. Also a meaty element to the nose and the finish here. Stupid good balance and lovely structure that will ensure 10+ years and surely longer. A fantastically pure bottle of Volnay 1er Cru. — 12 days ago
One of the best values in Burgundy. Producer and estate. Such a gorgeous nose. Big sappy red fruits, elegant spices and cooling minerals. Huge cherry explosion. Real depth here and such vivid aromatic details. So pretty. Wow, 19 is the bomb! Palate is so juicy and so pure. Okay, my man has taken the leap. The balance here is extraordinary. So clean and balanced. Startling purity. This is blowing my mind. Such supple texture. So silken and sweet. Crystalline levels of purity here. Almost a 9.3 and could be with air. Just needs to flesh out a bit. But it’s all there.
After much air this is super floral and just lovely. Stunning fruit. So pretty. Still keeping at 9.2. My initial assessment was correct. — 12 days ago
Yowza. This smells very very complex. Huge Pommard stoniness. Stone powder. Pulverized stones. So complex and so ebullient. What a nose. Insane cherry flower. Huge red cherries with rock dust on them. Amazing depth on the nose. A 9.5 nose. Just insane. What a value this wine is. Candied and confectionary. Wow stunning confectionery inner mouth aromas. So juicy and sweet with unreal fruit. This kid gets just insane fruit. Again, with that super 19 balance. So fresh and so sappy. This is so good. Also a meaty dimension as well. Focused like a laser and such pretty mid season cherry fruit and ripe, sweet and velvety tannins. Really terrific length and what a finish. This is great. So complete. William had made the leap in 19. — 12 days ago
Massive blackberry on the nose with stunning granitic details. Wow. This is very very high class. Some black olive as well that is very well defined. What a palate. Density married with finesse and insanely explosive fruit. Wow that’s a great wine. Brilliant purity and density. So elegant. How can something this big be so elegant? Gorgeous late breaking sweet and granitic tannins. A monumental wine. Unreal finish. This slaps! Structure starts to kick in but that is offset but incredible juiciness. This is an ager but fun to take a peek. — 21 days ago
The top wine at Rebourgeon and this may be the best wine he’s ever made. Stunningly, deep, fresh, complex nose of cherry flower, spice cake, pulverized stones, licorice, mid to late season cherry and spice. Unreal complexity. But this 9.6 nose is still holding back. That’s what elite vineyards do. The nose is so harmonious. Wow, that is super elite. Just so elegant. One of the most elegant wines I’ve ever had from William if not the most elegant. This is only giving 15% of itself but that 15% is stunning. A sphere on the palate. So balanced, so much synergy. Stoney, floral, fruity and endless depth. Going deep in the ocean. You can sniff this nose as hard as possible and it still gives off unlimited depth. Outrageous nose. 9.7 ish. Palate is also a 9.7 but has so much room to improve. Unreal sweet fruit and wonderful slippery character. Tannins, acid and fruit all in perfect harmony. Just a stunning bottle of Rugiens and the best bottle of wine young William has made so far. — 12 days ago
