Produttori del Barbaresco

50 Anniversario 1958 2008 Riserva Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2008

Very nice aged nebbiolo from the fine folks at Produttori de Barbaresco. But doesn’t rise to the level of their single vineyard riserva expressions - a step up from the basic barbaresco (also a lovely wine) but not quite beyond that. Decanted 3.5 hours which was a good call. Quite good freshness still. Tannins are there in spades, but with food (meatballs here) they are somewhat tamed and balanced. Some dark fruit with just a hint of raisin. — 14 days ago

Clos du Mont-Olivet

Montueil-la Levade Côtes du Rhône Red Rhone Blend 2010

A baby CdP, this 11+ year old was a bit tight upon opening, but unfurled like a beautiful rose with tangy spiced violet raspberries and that PEZ-like VERVE that went perfect with our homemade lamb meatballs with fresh naan. The medium weighted body with long floral finish with very poetic too :) — 2 months ago

Zenas Puglia Primitivo 2018

N: dark plum, violets, licorice
P: dark, sweet juicy fruits , a bit sauced or candies— plum, blackberry, boysenberry, black cherry. Touches of spice and darkchocolate. Rich, but juicy w good acidity. Tannins are smooth, ripe and a dusty.

Good with pasta with meatballs, but would also be good with meaty stews

Chateau Ste. Michelle

Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Yum! Dark cherry, blackberry, and jam. A little sweet, and not much of a finish, but for a grocery store buy for a Friday night I don't hate it. Goes well with appetizer meatballs. Cheers! — 3 months ago

Castello di Monsanto

Monrosso Tuscan Red Blend 2018

Ruby red in the glass. Medium bodied, fresh with a balance acidity and tannins. Sour cherry and red fruit entice your tongue. Enjoyable on its own or excellent pairing with Spaghetti / Sausages / Meatballs. Surprisingly a great pairing with fresh sardines and green olives.
Go for this excellent value and enjoy.

La Strada California Red Blend

So nice and soft with a very sentimental dinner I had alone except for my memories. Went easily with my late husband’s mother’s recipe for “gravy” with meatballs and sausage and my own homemade Italian bread still warm from the oven. — 2 months ago

Castello di Monterinaldi

Vigneto Boscone Chianti Classico Sangiovese 2016

Perfect in between Chianti. Between Classico and Reserva! 30 year old vines make this Sangiovese a stellar example of the region. Chocolate, berries and a slight balsamic vinegar touch. So tonight with the Spaghetti n meatballs this will shine…. @Kay Delectable this is the Vigneto Boscone Chianti Classico not the regular — 3 months ago
