Chianti Sangiovese 2020

Sweet, light, burst of cherry, with slightly bitter aftertaste. Goes well with classic Italian fare (we paired with spaghetti and Turkey meatballs). — 4 months ago

Bricco Boschis Barolo Nebbiolo 2015

From last week. Terrific barolo that went great with linguini and a homemade tomato sauce with waygu meatballs. Yum. — 2 years ago

Tarima Monastrell 2019

Wonderful old world stand in for Norcal Zinfandel. Baked violets and stewed blackberries… A little heavy for my Greek lamb meatballs… Nevertheless delicious and a great value at approximately $13 — 10 months ago

Fattoria di Fèlsina Berardenga

Fontalloro Toscana Sangiovese 2004

Another mystery wine I don’t recall buying..glad I did. So hard not to groove on aged Sangiovese from a very good producer. Soft, silken, smooth and remarkably dark and concentrated at age 16. Home-made pasta, meatballs, and sausage and playoff football... doesn’t get much better. The wine displays beautiful classic notes of berry, sun-dried tomato, and some dirt. But marvelous match with the acidity of tomato sauce with pork and basil. Used to always tell buyers to stick to the two “f’s” when it comes to everyday reliable Tuscan red. — 2 years ago

Castello di Monsanto

Riserva Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2016

30 mins after opening I was drinking a Chianti... vacuumed it and revisited the next evening and found myself drinking an exquisite Chianti! It become dynamic and as such, I recommend this wholeheartedly especially if you’re staring down a big bowl of spaghetti and meatballs with your homemade red sauce. — 3 years ago

Paradiso Sangue di Giuda Barbera Bonarda 2019

Not a Lambrusco but performs as one- especially if you go room temperature & let the earthiness & more bitter notes come through. Has sweetness in balance. Went beautifully with orzo, pork/beef meatballs with Marcella Hazan recipe tomato sauce. Rosenthal importer — 2 years ago
