Sweet and spicy! — 3 years ago
Even better with lamb. Intense earthiness (reminds me of good Aglianico but austere like a young cab franc), touch of barnyard, framed by a graceful body with finer tannins than the nose would lead to believe. — 9 months ago
Vintage 2011 | 60% mavrodaphne 40% mavro kalavritino | 32 months aged in new barrels | 24 months in bottle before release | Such a glorious wine from these authentique grapes! Rich taste. Paired with spaghetti meatballs. Second day with venison steak, the wine shows even better. — 2 years ago
Poured through a Venturi into a decanter prior to service. For a grape that has traditionally been used to make less-than-serious fortified wines, this was quite a serious Mavrodaphne indeed. From ungrafted vines, the 2020 “Mov” pours purple in color. A touch reticent early, this is developing and only beginners to open after about 30min after which it revealed it’s layered red and dark fruits, earth, cocoa, purple flowers, minerals and soft baking spices. Structure was medium+. Balanced and paired well with our beef and grilled eggplant. Only 800 bottles produced. — a year ago
Extraordinary and flavorful Greek wine. Unlike anything else: flavors of balsamic, bell pepper, and rosemary. All of the flavor is in the finish. Perfect with moussaka. — 2 years ago
