Nose has fresh lemon slice, cut green & yellow apples, Italian bread, vanilla cremé and wet slate.
Palate has fresh pineapple, cold yellow apple, white flowers, sandstone and mild vanilla notes. Great acidity (as expected in the most youthful of stages, current vintage) with some drying, chalky aspects.
Decanted 90m. Another great Boillot Bourgogne Blanc to stock the cellar with for enjoyment 2023-29.
On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Our Conductors Andris Nelsons and John Williams will be leading a very engaging program of Jessie MONTGOMERY (Starburst), John WILLIAMS (Violin Concerto No. 2, world premiere featuring Anne-Sophie Mutter!), COPLAND (Quiet City) and STRAVINSKY (Suite from The Firebird, 1919 version). We're getting the luxury of enjoying Mr. Williams two nights in a row...what a great weekend of Contemporary music! — 9 days ago
Stunning nose of butter, minerals, green apple, spice and florals. Salty as well. Just gorgeous. So so expressive. Palate is super. Lemony and fresh with terrific acidity and super pure. Long finish. This is no way a 15 if you served this to me blind. Even needs air. Maybe a 9.5? — 4 days ago
On to the white burg course… when I opened this 5 hours before guests arrived, the first whiff caused a smile and I told my wife, “this is why you age white burg!” What an amazing nose right from the get-go. Straw to medium gold color, bright and heavy in the glass. High-pitched nose with notes of meyer lemon, cardamom, kiwi, tan spice, gravel stone and almond paste. Palate staining acidity in the mouth. So much energy for a 35+ year old Chardonnay. I’ve had this many times in the past, and tonight it might just have been at its best! (Bday 3 of 12) — a day ago
Medium garnet; medium intensity aromas of forest floor, earth, subtle mushrooms, old wood, black cherry, balsamic macerated strawberries; dry, high acid, medium alcohol, medium body, medium plus intensity flavors consistent with aromas; quite earthy with mostly tertiary flavors, medium finish — 5 days ago
Medium gold in color, slightly darker than the 86 Bonneau du Martray next to it. Heavy in the glass. Sweet floral nose. Notes of sweet kiwi fruit, lemon curd, apple cider and white acacia flowers. Lacked acidity at first but with many hours of air this powered up. Last sip was the best. I preferred the other whites to this, but was happy to see this improve so much during the evening. We discussed this being Vincent Leflaive’s last vintage, and sadly this was the last bottle in my cellar of 86 Leflaive. (Bday 4 of 12) — a day ago
Medium ruby; medium plus intensity aromas of fresh ripe strawberries, red cherry, earth, subtle forest floor, herbal notes; dry, medium plus acid, medium minus tannins, medium alcohol, medium body, medium plus intensity flavors consistent with aromas; fruit flavors remarkably fresh and young, perfectly balanced — 3 days ago
Nose has lemon zest, lemon slice, vanilla bean, crushing of flint, white wood smoke, room temperature butter, salt box and waxy yellow apple.
Palate has under-ripe pineapple, honeycomb, warm green apple, salty warm lemon, pulverized flint; concentration is amazing, finish is minutes.
Wow, Meursault I already ❤️ thee, but this is next level.
