'Ma Belle-Fille' Chardonnay 2016

This was my contribution for a big white wine theme, where all bottles were served blind.

Placed in the exact middle of the lineup, I considered this as my wine but wasn’t fully confident. Similar to the 2016 Belle Cote I opened earlier this year, I’m somewhat nicely surprised that this is as beautifully balanced as it is. Some of these wines have a reputation for “large and in charge”, but this was supremely balanced, toeing the line between Sonoma and white burgundy with richness. Aromatically it revealed sugar frosted stone fruits, white peach, caramel dipped golden delicious apples and baking spices. It has a beautifully textured palate that is almost creamy before snapping back with good acidity. Added notes on the palate of powdered lemon bar, floral honeysuckle, and whipped lemon cream. This will age effortlessly for another 7-10yrs, but it sure is giving now.

Carneros Estate Pinot Noir 2013

Ruby color, not much of an odor or distinctive notes.. Very balanced pinot, good body with a slight pinch of fruit at the end that is uplifting with minimal if any aftertaste. Side note: I actually got this 2013 vintage from a local liquor store on closeout. This place is mostly a scotch forward store near foxborough, ma. They need room and put wines on clearance. I think I walked away paying 15 for this bottle...drinks like 30 bucks. Cheers — a month ago

Albariño w stylu bogatszym i obfitszym. Nie ma tu mineralnej kostyczności, zamiast niej dużo owoców cytrusowych z grejpfrutem na czele. Do tego słodkie jabłka. Mineralny, słonawy, nieco metaliczny rdzeń jest, ale otoczony soczystością owoców. Bardzo dobra wersja galicyjskiego albariño. — 3 months ago

Upon visual analysis the color is deep and rich in its youthfulness. On the nose a lovely perfume of dried potpourri, lavender, plum, clove, graphite, and sweet vanilla. The palate...the palate absolutely blew me away. Incredibly suave and velvety with arguably one of the most plush yet lively mouthfeels I’ve experienced in years. Stewed blueberries, blackberries, and plums with muddled spices. I also detect the inorganic trappings of graphite, along with moist wood shavings. This is truly a sensuous and extravagant wine that is Spring Mountain on full display in all its glory.

Here’s another smoking good southern french white. Very interesting blend and the first time I can remember seeing Carignan Blanc. Also Roussanne Grenache Blanc and Vermentino. Sulfur needs to blow off. So beautifully textured and detailed. Glides across the palate. Green apple, citrus, almond, custard/fondant/banana on the palate and a floral, carnation (?) finish. Seductive. This would be so fun to throw into a blind tasting. Love. — 3 months ago

Clos des Hospices dans les Clos Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay

What a great wine and producer that I love. Super elegant and classy nose of yellow fruit with a floral side and some lemon zests. The palate shows ripe fruit but with great acidity to support it and balance that along with the nice richness and roundness of the silky and nicely textured palate, lengthy delicious finish too. Served blind, my wife called Meursault or Puligny 1er cru, which would be a great call, as it does feel more like a great Cote De Beaune. 94-95 pts

Quel vin magnifique. Un nez super élégant, fruits jaunes, touche florale et un peu de zeste de citron. La bouche est superbe, il y a du fruit mur mais aussi une acidité qui équilibre le tout en supportant ce gras et cette rondeur tout en finesse, une longueur impressionnante et une finale magnifique. À l’aveugle, ma femme a dit Meursault 1er cru ou Puligny 1er cru, vrai qu’il fait plus grand vin de Côte de Beaune qu’un Chablis tranchant, mais c’est tellement bon. 94-95
