At Locanda with short rib pasta with Gorgonzola sauce — a month ago
Classic style. Color is on the lighter side, showing a little amber at the rim, but the nose is quite vigorous. It shows sappy, macerated cherry (with a slight sour note), deep spice and gravel. Full flavors on the mouth, with nice transparency and deep, clingy cherry and leather flavors, nice acids and still a good whack of tannin. Can age a few years more but delicious now. — 3 months ago

At Locanda with crab salad — a month ago
Approachable on opening but best after an hour or so of slow ox. Deep rose and spice aroma popped on opening. Slight grip of tannins initially but subsided within an hour. Cherry, cinnamon, tar, and leather on the palate and a hint of sweet balsamic and a graphite mineral kick near the lingering smooth finish that lingers quite a while as the tannins return with a purpose. This is a sipping wine with an interesting journey worth taking. — 3 months ago
