Leading a tasting for some hotel guests. Different styles of Pinot Noir from around the world, starting with our own west coast. This wine features a core of explosive red fruits that define west coast Pinot making. Rich clove and and oak add a savoriness that helps to balance the wine. — 6 days ago
This is a delicious Pinot Noir from Sonoma Coast. Rich, complex and elegant.
Light burgundy in color with a wide reddish rim.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Showing red currants, cooked cherries, oak, light vanilla, spices, light vegetables, tobacco, chocolates, light barnyard, coffee and peppercorn.
This Single Vineyard is nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel.
Good right out of the bottle and good by itself as a sipping wine.
This 8 year old is peaking now, although it will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 years.
Thank you Scott for sharing.
Wine Spectator 90 points. Robert Parker 94 points.

Medium reddish purple in color. Freshly cut mint, black cherry, wet leaves, and tobacco are evident on the nose. It’s medium bodied with voluptuous dark fruit on the palate which borders on sappy but is complimented by some spice and a somewhat savory quality. The above is backed up by a structure of fine grained tannins and a nice balancing acidity with 14.6% alcohol. Élevage in 33% new French oak for 17 months. Should please fans of the big Pinot style championed by Kosta Browne and others. $70. — 4 years ago
Delicious!! Pronounced fruits, solid structure, perfect complexity and balance. — 20 days ago
Browne does nothing poorly — 4 days ago
Bright wild cheery and raspberry aromatics lead to similar expression on palate…lite tannins throughout…interestingly different from the 2013…feel comfort holding — 8 months ago
Kanzler is primary a grower with Kosta Brown (its 2004 Kanzler Vineyard PN rated 98 points by WS, the highest ever for a US PN) their most prominent customer. With some juice coming from the same vineyard, this bottle is fantastic.
Initial burst of aroma of fresh strawberry, cherry, and blackberry slowly turned to mushroom, incense, and scent of violet. Oak is very well integrated. Lush yet lively palate with medium finish. 13 month in French oak, 40% new. Not cheap, but well worth the price. — 4 years ago
Australian complex red blend of mostly Cabernet with Tempranillo and garnacha. Very nice. Full bodied, fruity. Needs to breathe. Great with a rib eye. Dark berry tones prominent. Good wine! — 8 days ago
@Robert Evans Jr you suggested infanticide with the 2016 Kosta Browne. This is even more egregious. I actually thought the Pinot was quite good, but I’m pretty new to that world.
This is tight, but everything’s in the right place. Tannins throughout so dusty cherries, currant, and blackberries. There’s and little funk, hope it comes out more later. Have the opp to buy more at a good deal, so grabbed one to try. Gonna grab the rest. — 2 years ago
