La Bastide Blanche

Cuvée Fontanéou Bandol Mourvedre Blend 1997

Nice nose with dark red with slight red as it is not nearly browning of the edges, medium to full body with some complexity and a fairly short aftertaste. I give it. 90. I noticed that Vivino says it is carignon, Grenache & Mourvèdre, which makes sense, as it is not nearly as full or as complex as the 1992 Horton Mourvèdre 89%/Syrah, which was surprising. — 3 years ago

Sunset Hills

Estate Club Select Syrah 2010

Very rare one-off from Nate’s early years at SSH. He source the Syrah from Horton and crafted in the “feminine” style. At 10yrs old it is really special. The acid had waned a bit (say 85% from baseline), but the aromatics were very Pinot...Oregon meets Rhône :) this was our thanksgiving dinner wine and it was great with Charcuterie and then brown sugar-cured ham, sweet potatoes, cream spinach etc. delicious!! — 8 months ago

Sunset Hills Vineyard

Estate Club Select Nebbiolo 2012

Because I have a few in the cellar, I opted to see where this is early in its development. I was impressed at its useful energy, but I can see the real aging potential here. Enjoyable Raspberry sweetness and acidity drives this medium weight gem. Really looking forward to opening another bottle in 4 to 5 years! Fruit is from Horton in Orange County. Well done Nate Walsh! — 3 years ago
