From the great Henri Bonneau, along with Château Rayas, the master of CDP. (He and Jacques Reynaud were actually dear friends). It’s insanely expressive and its ultra intense aromatics leap from the glass.
The complex bouquet is layered with rich black and red fruit, leather saddle, wilted violets and savory herbs. It just floats on the palate with its supreme elegance, caressing texture and weightless intensity. So Burgundian in that sense. The finish is so long, lifted and intense, leaving you craving another sip when its flavors finally do dissipate. 04 Célestins is a total knockout. — 5 days ago
There are better White Burgundies but, for far more money. More expensive ones work for special friends & occasions. However, I am really happy w/ a number of White Burgundy producers Bourgogne’s in good vintages. Happy w/ Bourgogne Blanc’s as well vs. heavily new oaked Sonoma/CA Chardonnay’s. Stylistically, just more pleasing to my palate.
The palate is creamy, rich, lush, waxy, honeysuckle, lemon juice, stone fruits, pineapple, lime candy, brilliant powder, chalkiness, delicate limestone volcanics, sea spray/fossils, crust part of toast, phat, round acidity, well balanced, nice length and very well polished.
Hold this a bit longer for something even more special…three years.
Excellent for $30. — 19 days ago
Superbe Meursault Charmes, très typé avec des saveurs de fruits blancs, touche mielleuse mais à peine, riche et plein, frais et éclatant en même temps, bel équilibre. 91-92
Nice typical Meursault with white fruit, touch of honey and butter yet clean and precise, fresh and energetic, rich and full, great balance. — 18 days ago
Medium garnet hue, bricking slightly towards the edges with great translucency.
On the nose this wine is bold and and aromatic, with cranberry, cherry kirsch, blueberry, hoisin, and notes of savoury game, showing the complexity of age.
The palate sees an explosion of sweet cherry with a slightly confected edge, perhaps owing to the hot vintage and high ABV, as well as Turkish delight, dark chocolate ganache, five spice, strawberry, blackberry, roasted meats and espresso. This could only be Chateauneuf. There is a strong spicy character, enough acidity to keep things in balance, and nicely resolved tannins. The finish is quite long, and very dry. This is a superb Châteauneuf that should continue to impress for the next decade. — 4 days ago
Finally seems to open up, dark fruit profile, fresh, yet some grip and power to it, good balance and decent length too .
Excellent et semble s’ouvrir un peu, frais mais avec de la puissance, belle finale de bonne longueur et assez équilibré, très bien. 90-91 — 3 days ago
Soft and distinctly Chablis. Spiced pear and vanilla bean. First wine I’ve had from this producer. — 5 days ago
