Raul Pérez

Muti Rías Baixas Albariño 2010

Ok... I admit it... this straggler Spanish Albariño lost it’s way in my cellar. 10 years old for a grape not altogether known for longevity... what do I expect? Medium gold in the glass... clear...broken cork. Amazing aroma of pineapple, lychee, and peach. The wine is still alive.. still offering up bright acidity and round weighted fruit. Poured too cold, the aromas intensify as it warms. The wine is rich, round and complex...playing with your palate. I was prepared to dump, had a lessor wine at the ready. But... hell no. This wine rocks. Mr. Perez is often referred to as a trail-blazing maverick...what do I know. The wine is a wonder! — 2 years ago

Babich Wines

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2018

Sitting on a bench in the middle of nowhere off of Queenstown Trail on the Kelvin Heights peninsula. Best place in Queenstown, the view was incredible and peaceful. — 3 years ago

Wallaroo Trail

Cabernet Sauvignon

I recall that I really enjoyed this wine and that it was really smooth. Don’t recall vintage. — 5 years ago

Trail Marker Wine Co.

Quink Vineyard Mount Eden Clone Chardonnay 2018

Coming in a bit flabby, short on acid, vs the rest of the lineup. Good lemon confit on the nose, still a well-made wine, just doesn’t shine — 4 months ago

Conn Creek

Anthology Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2012

Had this three years ago, aged well. Conn Creek is a boutique winery on the Silverado Trail in the Rutherford district headed by winemaker Mike McGrath. A blend of 75% Cab Sauv, 16% Cab Franc, 4% Merlot, 3% Malbec and 2% Petit Verdot. Deep Ruby with aromas of ripe fruit and earthy oak notes. On the palate ripe blackberry and raspberry flavors with espresso and tobacco tones with fine well integrated tannins. Long finish ending with cedar, cacao and earthy tobacco. Aged well still has room for more. Nice! — 2 years ago

Marlborough Pinot Noir 2015

Great Pinot. Crisp. Probably an 88, but here in Rarotonga after a day of snorkeling with the turtles and hiking the cross island trail it is a total 90. — 4 years ago
