Bolla

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Corvina Blend 2014

Rusty red robe. Big, bold nose with aromas of sour cherry, dried date & fig, cranberry, blackberry, smoked bacon and mocha with some hints of raisin, cinnamon and vanilla. Nice stuff, really. The palate is equally generous, with plenty of blackberry, blackcurrant and cedar spice, and a very supple, velvety texture and chocolatey finish - a finish that’s mighty hot, mind. I guess this wine is fairly typical of Amarone, a DOCG I have very limited experience in tasting. If I was blind tasting this, I’d like to think I’d land on Amarone by process of elimination as it’s fairly unique in its aromatic profile and quite obviously has a high ABV. — 22 days ago

Gorgeous, pristine - downright youthful w/gobs of black fruit (cherry, plum, blackberry & prune). Also sporting minerals, fig, clay, loam, soil & spice. Seamless integrated tannins & great persistence on finish. You can find great value in Fronsac — 9 days ago

Mas Serra

Vacqueyras Red Rhone Blend 2018

There is a little funk at first. Then comes tapenade, fig, bacon, blackberry, Provence herbs. The palate is very nice and smooth although quite acid driven, but with a soft mouthfeel and a nice blackberry note. There is a good width and a bit of weight, a spherical mid palate with a good tannic kick leaving a layer of dust on the finish which is mainly fruity with a bacon note. It's very surprising to find that bacon note that I usually associate with Northern Rhone syrah. This is a very good surprise. — 10 days ago
