From makers of Sassicaia, Deep Ruby color with aromas of fresh red & black fruits and earthy floral notes, 55% Cab Sauv, 27% Merlot & 18% Cab Franc. On the palate flavors of cherry, plum & blackberry with floral, licorice, cacao and earthy notes, well integrated. Fine tannins, a wine with a solid structure, elegant and smooth, long finish, great mouth feel ending with fruit and oak. Will age well over next 5+ years. Nice! — 4 months ago
Some of us, being Nebbiolo supplicants, love Ghemme for its paradoxical meaty, bloody, yet light qualities. This has it in spades, on the edge of cherry cough syrup but never quite there. The woods, especially on the nose. This wine would benefit from a large glass.
It’s a bit of a sneaky, under the radar winery, hopefully for a bit still.
Lots of cherries, loam, dirt, blood, stoniness. Delicious. A ‘17 feels just about right. — 2 years ago
Black cherry, raspberry, currant, blackberry, vanilla and oak. Medium-bodied and soft tannins. — 6 months ago
This pours a warm tawny colour. Aromatics of rose petals with touches of balsamic and mint. An underlying sweet fruit intensity with spice and those balsamic and mint touches. Mid tawny in colour as it sits in the glass but delivering a medium + bodied palate. Went well with lamb chops. Excellent. — 8 months ago

This is great quaffable italian red. Perfect pizza wine. Nice round opulent fruit without being overblown. Enough tannin and acid to hold the package together. Buy again! — 4 months ago

Sweet herbal tones, tobacco, dark earth and dried black cherries form a dramatic bouquet as the 2017 smolders up from the glass. This is pure elegance on the palate, verging on opulence, yet with a core of tart black fruits and savory herbal tones to balance. Brisk acidity brings a nearly juicy feel toward the close. The 2017 folds in upon itself through the finish, balsamic and tarry, yet somehow maintains a lovely freshness as sweet tannins linger on. The 2017, an extremely warm vintage, contains 32% Petit Verdot, the largest amount ever included in the Reserve, balanced by 58% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Malbec. Chris Figgins explained that Petit Verdot achieved perfect ripeness in 2017. (Eric Guido, Vinous, October 2023)

Brick red w rose petal and hint of balsamic. Showing more age than I would have expected. But delicious — a day ago
