This has developed nicely with a nice mix of fresh and dried fruits character. Red cherry, raisin, prune, espresso, and dried herbs. There is touch of medicinal note as well. Palate is rich and smooth as expected. Resolving tannins still have a good grip.
This can stand toe to toe with a lot of good Valpolicella Ripasso at half the price. — 8 days ago
Mid Ruby in colour. Aromatic red fruits. Light weight but medium plus intensity. Red cherry. Palate shows balsamic ultra savoury notes with other Mediterranean herbs. Interesting the title of this wine and I recall it being a trick question in the WSET Exams where this is called a Rosso di Montepulciano but the wine is 100% Sangiovese. The vineyard is biodynamic the fermentation is done in cement and the oak regime is all large and has no flavour impact on the wines. — 2 days ago
Amazing value-driven “Baby Brunello.” Bright garnet (tending to the dark side) color. Prolific nose of red cherry and oak. Expressive pallet of cherry, blackberry, tobacco and a bit of balsamic vinegar. Smooth tannins. Medium-plus body. Outstanding structure and balance. Beautiful acidity. This one punches way above its price point. Thank You for sharing, Kase. — 16 days ago
Popped and poured. The 2014 “Castelletto” is garnet with an transparent core and very slight staining of the tears. On the nose, cherry lozenge, roses, dried green herbs, tomato leaf. On the palate, the wine is dry, high tannin, medium++ acid. On the palate, cherry candy, cherry raisin, dried earth and iron minerals. A little thin. Long finish. The nose is more interesting than the palate at this stage. I gotta wonder if time will be kind to the 2014 vintage? Anyway, fun to check in on. — 17 days ago
