Great red uplifted slightly from a table. Berry and chocolate notes. Smooth finish — 8 days ago
This bottle had been cellared since release and cork was in near pristine condition. At 54 years old, it remains a deep garnet/purple and now with loads of sediment. Classic Rioja character with dried black cherry, toasted coconut, cedar, dried flowers, leather and earth. The structure remains intact and the acid is still pretty fierce. This should continue to age very well if conditions are good. — 25 days ago
First time in a while with the Muga Reserva, one of the region’s most ubiquitous wines – and often one of its great bargains, too. Of the various vintages that I’ve had, I can’t say I notice a consistent style, but the quality is there more often than not. The 2019 is a polished, suave affair but a little over-extracted for my taste. Though there is some savoury quality on the palate, I wouldn’t say the wine is very demonstrative of this region’s appeal. That said, it is very harmonious throughout, and the wines of Muga age well, so I look forward to seeing how this fares in another five years. — 10 days ago

Tasty alone and refreshing with food, a bold and uncomplicated rioja. A burst of tart raspberries at first, not too sweet, fading to a juicy, lingering finish. The texture is medium-thin but with a creamy softness. Excellent value. — 13 days ago
