Volpolo Bolgheri Red Blend 2022

This wine is very dark in the glass, with almost no light getting through. The nose is full of blackberry, blueberry and plum, with savory notes of anise, black pepper, tobacco, tar and a hint of smoke joining the fruit. The palate has a savory bent as well, with spice and earth mixing in with the dark fruit flavors. The acidity is quite fresh and the tannins have a medium firm grip. I paired mine with slow cooker short ribs, and even used some in the recipe. Delicious. — 13 days ago

Villa Donoratico Bolgheri Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2021

It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.

Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim, with a beautiful Bordeaux nose.

Full-bodied with medium acidity, and dry on the palate.

Showing black cherries, currants, plums, licorice, spices, tobacco leaf, dark coffee, earth, dark chocolates and peppercorn.

Nice finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a tasty Cabernet Sauvignon based blend from Bolgheri. Elegant and rich. Fruit forward with nice complexity and mouthfeel.

Still young and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly. Will continue to age nicely in the next 7 to 10 years.

Good by itself or with food. Will pair nicely with fatty meats.

A blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot. Aged for 10 months in French and Austrian oak barrels.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

90 points.

Guado al Tasso Bolgheri Superiore Red Bordeaux Blend 2003

Super Tuscan at its peak, just beginning to show brickish color on the rim but intense ruby for the most part. The nose starts of with wet forest and red roses and opens to opulent dark berries then wet wood and even wet leather. Palate has persistent fruit throughout with hints of vanilla, polished tannins and bright acidity with a long balanced finish. — a month ago
