Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of several hours. The 2019 pours a deep garnet color with an opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of tart and ripe red and black fruits: Montmorency cherry, plums, horse barn, purple and red flowers, crushed rocks and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium- tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium and laden with minerals. This is not faking the funk on a nasty dunk. Drink now through 2029. — 4 months ago
Bright garnet color. Aromas of dark cherry, mushroom, tomato skin with a touch of barnyard funk. Pallet is full of ripe red fruit (cherry, cranberry , raspberry & plum) with notes of mushrooms, baking spices and minerals. A bit of smoke on the finish. Silky tannins. Medium bodied and bright. — 3 years ago

An amazing vintage here. Nose is a bit funky out of the gates but wow once it gets going it’s all red cherries, sour cherries, and wild herbs. So so good. Really lifted. Palate is mega closed but my goodness rhys is super precise and focused. Like a laser. Unreal freshness and acidity and barely ripe sour cherry and early season cherry fruit. Insane velvety and sour/sweet tannins. Wine as sweet tart. This needs air. It’s got the bones but I will check back in an hour or two. Oh this is getting better but it’s gonna be slow. Angular and dense but so balanced. That Rhini structure abounds. — 2 months ago
