Gorgeous. Amazing deep dark red cherries and such brilliant clarity. Earthy and herbal with classic SLB depth. Feels and smells more concentrated and a wine from a “great” vintage. Licorice and cherry flower abound. Palate is bright and grapey with lovely mid season cherries. Sappy and dense. But also elegant and ethereal. Young and very long. Nose has a lovely leafiness to it. So expansive. Terrific acid, freshness and concentration. Lovey delineation and a profound compact quality. Outstanding. — 3 days ago
Medium dark rubi robe, nose of crushed flowers, top soil and asian spices, very complex and elegant in the mouth, and very long. This got to be the best Beaune 1er cru we had in many years. Classical burgundy in fine shape, with lots for it now and many years ahead. Enthusiastically recommended ! — 24 days ago
What a deep stoney nose. Ripe black cherry fruit and a compote aspect. Dense, brooding and layered. Incredibly vivid fruit. A saline aspect as well. Gorgeous. Palate is stunning. Bright but dark fruits and amazing freshness. So sappy and pure and elegant. The elegance in the kid’s wines has really ramped up. Beautiful wispy yet velvety and sweet tannins but not too sweet. A raspberry coulis aspect and lip smacking freshness on the finish. I love the 2020’s here. Terrific inner mouth aromas and insane opulence. So juicy and energetic. The tannins are super high quality and the fruit is dark and opulent but just so perfect. Not overdone and owns its darkness and opulence. Silky and sweet and so long. A brilliant bottle. The fruit never quits on the finish even as it takes a detour for the minerals to express themselves. Almost a 9.6.
This has come alive after many hours. Nose is more integrated. Much more. Gorgeous raspberry and cherry. Wow. Palate is insanely juicy and fruit is more red. Sappy as all can be. Brilliant. — 6 days ago
Stunning nose of terrific tiny berry fruit intensity. Tweed coat. Some herbals. Classic and so old school. Ripe and gritty. Kirsch. Beautiful fruit. Floral, expansive and so detailed. I could get lost in this nose. Huge fruit on the palate and wow on the mid palate. Sweet, concentrated and elegant but man this is young. Big tannins and super juicy with black cherry and terrific freshness but obviously needs some air to get more integrated. Stoney for Volnay. Huge structure like the other Buffet wines and the fruit core is stunning and they are toothsome but man is this young and backwards and I know air will help it as the finish is insanely backwards. Nose is getting more floral with air. As it airs it gets more elegant and complete. Tremendous fruit and grip. Like a squeegee of fruit. Black and dark. And so much.
This has mega potential and is as classic a Champans as i’ve ever had. 9.4 to 9.5 with air. — 5 days ago
Lyle Fass

Founder Fass Selections
The 19 was the Fass Selections’ RWOTY. The 20 is a worthy successor. Nose starts out a bit reductive. Under that is mega minerality. I love how transparent 2021 is. Now just stunningly gorgeous roses and such fine pungent minerality But that palate is what makes my toes curl for this wine. So silky, so elegant, so ethereal. Like a soft pillow you lay your head on. This has the texture that we all go nuts for. This blows away the many Jadot versions i’ve had which I happen to like a lot. Super juicy and thrilling red fruits. Tangy and fresh. More structured than the 19. But what a wine. I’d wait 5-7 years. — 2 days ago
