Found this winery in a small German town in the Mosel valley. Knocking on the door, we met the two +90yr old men, owners who showed us around and invited us for drinks. On the wall there were pictures of both of them from the war 😬😳. In the cellar we tasted many different reislings which were all completely stellar. All amazing and may be peaking now, after 7yrs cellaring. Notes of honey pineapple, lime petroleum baked apple & minerals. Great silky mouth feel. 4€ !!!!?! — 3 months ago
October 2018 disgorgement. Very nice Champagne, and a great value. This Champagne has a nice yeast flavor and clean taste. Although nothing extraordinary, this Champagne has a classic Champagne flavor. There are few fruit notes, if any. But worth buying at its price point. — a month ago
This is just a puppy, great balance of acid and sugar, rich, great mouth feel, ripe kiwi, tangerine, and hints of honey. Finishes clean, despite the residual sugar.
I think this will be 9.7 with a few more years of age. Maybe a hint of botrytis. Wait for the tertiary flavors..... great value. — 5 months ago
Vintage 2011 | The summum of balance. Unbelievable good Riesling. I usually think Merkelbach must be put away ten years, but I see I found this wine irresistible already five years ago. 😳 what a treat, butterscotch, smell ánd taste. | Paired with Blanquette de Veau and cheeses. Makes my day. — 4 months ago
