Grenache Rosé 2019

It’s a great grape for rose. Grenache gets too little attention on its own as it’s typically in a blend. But here this Abacela Rose shines. Cherry. Strawberry. Tart and crisp. Lip smacking. Dry. It’s wonderful chilled on a hot day and equally delicious as it warms to room temperature. The QPR is amazing for the substance of this wine. Ranges $15-20 bottle. And keep some for Fall and Winter too. Rose isn’t just for sunny summers. Goes with a myriad of foods all year long (think turkey at Thanksgiving or ham at Christmas). It goes Especially well with all grilled things. Barbecue season here we come! — 3 months ago

Tinta Amarela 2012

Dense inky purple-red in color. Shows a bit more fruit in nose than a typical Portuguese tinta - plum with some cherry, violet and applesauce. Red fruits in mouth - cherry, berry and plum. Seed tannins dominate in finish. Tasty wine that should improve with a little aging. — 5 years ago

Barrel Select Tempranillo 2014

Ripe, fleshy, soft and gently tannic black-fruited Tempranillo fashioned in Riserva style. Blackberry, cassis, baking spice, vanilla, mocha, pipe tobacco. Very hard to differentiate from a ripe Ribera del Duero with its black-fruit profile and oak spice. Abacela has set a high standard for New World Tempranillo. — 3 years ago

Barrel Select Malbec 2013

While dark in color with its deep purple complexion it is very bright and expressive on the palate. On the nose you have spices, with dark fruits like cherry, plum, black currant and blackberry jam as well as a hint of meatiness. The palate is all similar characteristics with bright red raspberry and even some strawberry. A fantastic wine from Abacela in the Umpqua Valley of Southern Oregon! — 5 years ago
