Brilliant California Rose’ made with native Portuguese varietals. Blend of Touriga National (80%) and Tinta Cao (20%). Aromas and flavors of Watermelon (like Jolly Ranchers without the sweetness), lemon rind and rose petals. Touches of dark raspberries and a Real purity of fruit. Hint of vanilla and saline with a bit of a creamy finish. Wonderful consistency all through the pallet. Beautiful balance. Clean with just the right level of bright acidity. Winner! — 7 days ago

Color of bubbly light gold. Nose is a trio of roasted nuts, mineral, and ripe tropical fruits, like mangoes, and a bit oaky note. Nose is nice. Taste shows good long lasting acidity, citrusy, oak, a bit salty mineral. Quite light as the fruits notes are not pronounced. Aftertaste of good quality acidity and some more mineral. — 11 days ago

Robert Craig Winery

Affinity Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Sex in a bottle. The good kind. Everyone has their own favorite California winery, but for me there’s no doubt. It’s Robert Craig. Deep purple with cherry red undertones in the glass. How about this nose? It starts with ripe red fruit up top. Cherries and raspberries and fresh strawberries oh my! Warm spices and créme de cassis follow that up. The barest hint of vanilla tops it all off.

I love the funk. I live for the funk, I die for the funk. But that’s not the water that Robert Craig swims in. Completely eschewing dirty funk, this is a profoundly clean and immediate wine. Full bodied but with none of the seemingly innate flabbiness of other Cabernet dominated blends. Pure sexy sleekness instead here.

The Modern Syrah 2017

A Santa Barbara County Proprietary Red Wine. Unfiltered and unfined. Entirely constructed of Estrella-clone Syrah from two ends of the Santa Rita Hills and a sprinkling of Viognier. Native-yeast fermented with 40% whole cluster inclusion and raised in large neutral barrels for 26-months. Matthias’ expression of great Syrah from a great Syrah growing region, cool coastal vineyards north of Santa Barbara. Recommended to a little above cellar temperature.

Young boysenberries. Steeping Darjeeling tea. A hint of barbecue smoke drifts by.

The color of a deep burgundy Chrysler Cordoba. Big, velvety mouthfeel, but not Corinthian leather.

Taste: Black cherries, just before 100% ripe. A touch of blueberry pie, but savory, not sweet. Finish: A finish of black pepper with a touch of cocoa nib at the last few touches of finish. Juicy, bustling tannins right to the point where you think they’re a touch too bold, but then the finish reaches over and says “I believe you were mistaken”.

Rorick Vineyard Albariño 2016

Half price beauty on K&L.

Winery Notes: "Citrus blossom aromatics, with lemon oil, pineapple, lemongrass, minerality, and viscosity on palate. The Albariño comes from a beautiful vineyard site in Calaveras County, owned and managed by Matthew Rorick and family. The fruit was harvested pre-dawn in mid August at 22.5 deg brix., and promptly hauled "down the hill" to the winery. Whole cluster pressed and fermented in neutral Hungarian oak barrels, there were no additions made to the wine aside from a moderate amount of sulfur dioxide to prevent oxidation. Aged 11 months on lees, and bottled on August 24th, 2016. The vines were planted in 2003 on a mixture of schist, quartz, and volcanic soils."

Sage Canyon California Red Blend

Great wine co. Thought I’d give it a shot.

Smells like cinnamon stick in a mulled wine.
Definitely.Mourvèdre driven, with the candied like fruit cubes of red and yellow. A good and classic Cali mouthfeel, fresh, clean. An easy going blend, and not that usual hotel Cali style for the price. Weighty, yet not too weighty, and a dance of lively kumquat acidity and hints of oak tannin.

The 2017 Andremily Mourvedre is a blend of 88% Mourvedre from the Alta Mesa, and Larner Vineyards, co-fermented with 3% Viognier, and polished off with a touch of Syrah from the White Hawk Vineyard.,
Forgot I still had 2 more bottles. Nice Monday night football 🏈 wine.
