German Syrah from Ziereisen so good. What the f. Why did I just buy 3 bottles? Scott will try the second one with you. Ultra elegant. 12.5%. Blueberry, cherry and spice? Amazing as this opens up. Next time might get a case.

German Syrah? Global warming at its finest - Ziereisen is just a genius. Second and last bottle. Cote Rotie like. Could go for another 6 years or so. 13%. Dark and brooding. Hint cherry, touch blueberry, lime - very astringent. I can’t really top Lyle Fass’s notes. Needs about 6-12 hours of air. Grown on limestone close to the swiss and french borders „dreiländereck“ in Baden one of the most interesting wine regions out there. No funk here - clean!

Do you like Côte-Rôtie ? Have you ever wondered what it would taste if it were made in Germany? If so, this is the wine for you. Utterly beautiful Syrah with serious density and oozing class. Will age for quite a bit—we gave it a full day in the decanter. Brilliant winemaking. If I could think of a flaw, it’s only that it’s missing that hint of wild or feral funk that I love in its French cousins. And, of course, that’s not the fault of the wine in the least.

Devastating !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wife grabbed the wrong bottle from the cellar and decided to make Glühwein/Spiced wine for her pickle ball friends this afternoon. Was left with barely a taste. An amazing rare German Syrah. Notes of chocolate, violets, leather, hint of dark olives. Dark berries with a cherry undertone. Super fresh. Touch bitter. Plenty of tannins left. Should last another 5 years or so.

So here is the thing. Sometimes i think our good friend Lyle can be occasionally a tiny little bit over-enthusiastic. Not in this case!!!’ This is probably one of the top five cold climate Syrah’s money can buy. It comes from a limestone site in Baden/Germany close to the border of Switzerland. Way too young, blueberry, spicy, bity, blackberry. More tomorrow this needs a day of air. Absolutely world class. —-/Port on the nose, blood orange, spiced Xmas wine. Very flavorful the next day. Quite special!
