I love how this wine is developing - still very youthful but with added tertiary elements bringing depth to the wine. Smoke, blackberry, strawberry, white pepper, leather, grilled meat, bacon fat, red cherry, black cherry and more. Gorgeous silky texture, very mature tannins.

Very good for what it is: deep luscious fruit, low acid, goes down like fruit punch. To be fair, the winemakers here kept it honest: voluptuous bordering on flabby. Period. In Cali they would've added a ton of acid and frankenwined it.

This winemaker started as a wine tech then started blending.
He is quite technical in his wines.
The 2009 vintage still has some time left but quite drinkable now.
Great wine.

Classic aged CDP - edges have been rounded - still a bit hot - stones and spice

A gorgeous wine that already drinks well though it will develop for another decade at least. Deep Ruby color with a very intense and expressive nose of black olive, bay leaf, blackberry, crushed stone, wild thyme and lavender (the haunting garrigue) and loads of violet. A lovely wine that sends agile on the palate with harmonious intensity. Crisp acidity and a Long finish give great promise in food pairings

I haven’t had this one in like 5 years. Back then, it was a monstrously blocky, impenetrable mess. Now it’s a bit better, maybe a year past its peak, but still not that good. Lots of warm sandstone and baking spice notes on the nose. A bit of somewhat porty fruit too. A slight note of oxidation is creeping in on the palate, which is still big and somewhat hot. Meh.

Smoky plum meets dank river and beef and ham’s baby on blacktop, with black rye, oregano, deer spoor, clay, and blackened corn meal. Medium mouthfeel, sharp plum-skin plus cranberrythat softens to raspberry and dried strawberry, rhubarb and miracle berry. Actually holding up well since 2005. #cdp #châteauneuf #chateauneufdepape #rhone #rhoneblend #frenchwines #xavier #anonyme #xaviercdpanonyme

More open & approachable than previous vintages. Typical Anonyme: tannic, huge ripeness and impossibly low pH. Kirsch, hot silica. Just incredible. #xavier #châteauneuf #rhone
