Grapefruit, lemon pith and white peach. Beautiful acid and minerals with simultaneous depth of flavor and roundness. Aging like great Muscadet but with more density and texture.

Always the most large scaled and backwards of the three Weltner Sylvaner Erste Lages. Stunning tho. Big, foreboding nose with dazzling spring flowers, herbs and minerals. A hint of opulence but like a very hard NYT crossword hint. It’s there but you gotta search for it. Wow. Palate is so delicious. Caressing, opulent, icing on cake texture and amazing clarity. Really compelling texture and brazen, yes brazen citrus fruit. Tactile grip and lots of sap on the finish. So pure. Dazzling complexity. What length and poise. As it opens nose gets deeper and more pure. Wonderful finish. What flavor hierarchy. Attack, fruit, mineral, hit of opulence and icing on cake length. Awesome.

Closer to begin, fresh herbs, mineral, saline nose, juicy, complex and very concentrated, sappy and pure with extreme minerality, long finish and gorgeous texture, complex finish and elegant. Superb structure to ensure a long life.

Terrific wine. Not as severe and demanding as some Sylvaner. The nose actually has some fruit! Citrusy, green apply fruit. Yes some light snap pea aromas and lots of crushed rock. Fun in the mouth, with roundness to offset the intense minerality and great acids. Juicy and mouthwatering.

Just concluded our annual Fall seclusion into the Rangeley lakes region of Maine, mobile service up there is mostly non-existent, after several days I am posting again.

Nose of cold smoke, very herbal, maybe celery seed? Palate is very mineral, saline extreme.

24hr Update: steely/slate notes, yellow fruits, papaya.

Nose is herbal and gorgeous with huge minerality. Lovely sugar snap peas, some C.K. Some confectionary aromas and just a beguiling whirlwind of so many non fruit aromas it’s hard to pinpoint them. A feral element as well but is so clean, so pure. It smells like the cleanest nature scene you can imagine. Yes it smells like a Bob Ross painting. Juicy and very complex with just a waterfall washing feeling across the palate. The balance of the fruit, minerals, acid and texture is extraordinary. Such delineation and grace. Stunning wine.

Mineral and wintergreen nose, super aromatic and super clean. Wafting. Palate is elegant and shows a skoche of heat but i think it will age away. Acid is very good but not great and texture is creamy but intense and nervy.
